I was refering to the guy who posted about the Spikes upper with a melonited barrel. That spikes he posted "appears" to be a standard AR barrel blank that was melonited vs chromed and parked.
I have no doubt that the bore of the Smith barrel will be dimensionally correct, it also is unlike any other mass produced AR15 barrel out there, so it was designed from the ground up for it's intended purpose and manufacturing method.
So if you would please save your rolleyes for posts that you have thoroughly read and understood the context of, I would appreciate it.

Actually I'm willing to bet they(S&W) borrowed a button that the barrel maker(Shaw) just happen to have on the shelf from someone else who actually designed it.
A 4150 CMV that has been Melonite treated has a very thick hard layer, usually only drilled/cut with carbide bits and a carbide reamer will not begin to recut a melonite treated chamber where a carbide reamer will cut chrome out of a chamber like butter.
