Looking forward to your review.
The 230gr FMJ Match averaged 1.95″ 5-shot groups from a sandbag at 25yd. The best group of five, however, was this amazing 1.26″.![]()

Based on my research here and elsewhere the HK45 was the top of my list. That's good to see. I liked the "O" ring design that would seem to have similar benefits to a fitted barrel/bushing on a 1911.
Its a shame there are almost as expensive as a 1911...

The 1911 you will get for the price of an HK will not hang with the HK45 long IMHO. The HK45 is a freaking anvil.
If you aren't armed when you take a dump in your own home then your opinion on what is a practical daily carry weapon isn't interesting to me.
I think there is a fair amount of context lost when you have quoted his website recently (here and in other threads).
Now, when discussing mechanical accuracy from a gun that is ransom rested to 1.5" groups at 50y, what happens when you use that gun with technique that results in 16" groups at 50y, at best? That nice tiny group doesn't matter any more. In the context of most users on this site I am willing to bet a 4"@25y gun will suffice as the instant they need to use the gun for something "real" the technique is dictated by what is happening, not by what gives the best groups.
Show me any 1911 within $500 that will run with that HK45. Heck, within $1k.
Have you read this article?
All of my 1911s run just as well as my HK45 and 45c. Granted, they are more than $1000+ over the $849 I paid for the HK45.
The HK45 has gotten a bit of carry time now that I've owned it and shot it a while. I do like the HK45 a lot. I like my 1911s a lot too. I'd take any of my current 1911s or the HK45 to Iraq/A-Stan or back to the El Centro sector in a heartbeat. They all run like scalded dogs and I have no doubts in their reliability.
Then again, to each their own. We all run what works for us.

I'm glad someone has finally given a short and to the point, no bullshit answer that the gun will still work and work well without the o-ring. Admittedly firearms forums of several years ago are not what they are now but I put off buying an HK for years because I could not get a straight answer. Thanks for posting that Lebowski. I think you may have just cost me a thousand dollars to get an HK.![]()
I'd certainly like to see a 1911 go a few thousand rounds without cleaning and then have a part replaced by dropping in a new one and then go on shooting with the same level of accuracy, reliability, and durability. For under $1k, too.
El Centro seemed hotter than the Middle East.........
I had not seen that article. Thanks for posting it.
As far as 1911 reliability, all of my fears are really from the internet as I have never had 1911's that are unreliable and don't personally know anyone who really has. I also don't shoot 500 rounds in a class every weekend. When I used to shoot Bullseye I routinely shot 200 to 300 rounds a weekend practicing and cleaned the gun every 1500 or so rounds. Now there was no sand, etc in the picture nor rapid fire BUT that super tight and super accurate gun never ever malfunctioned as long I put a drop of oil on the rails every once in a while.
I will be using one of my "looser" 1911's this weekend at the class and will see how it goes. I haven't run her hard in a while.
