    My California Beauty

This is my first build. I live in Southern California, so building a a black rifle is extra fun fun here with all of the hoops and legal nonsense. Putting all that aside, I was still able to put together the rig that I envisioned and I am pretty happy with the result. I didn't run into any snags with this project. All the components dropped right in and without any complications. I guess that's not completely true. I did run into one snag... money. I didn't want to hold back on this project so it took me a little longer to kind of nickle and dime it together piece by piece. It took some creative budgeting and skipping of a few meals to get it to where you see in the pics below, but seeing it come alive exactly as planned was worth it for me. Please shoot me any questions or comments on the build. I don't wanna go on and on about it. Just want to share some photos and the parts list. I welcome critiques. Thanks for checking it out!

    Parts:

-Mega Arms matching upper and lower set w/charging handle
    -Magpul MOE mil-spec stock
    -DPMS LPK
    -Hogue rubber grip
    -Bullet Button mag lock
    -Rock River Arms chrome BCG
-Centurion Arms 16" barrel, midlength gas
    -YHM Phantom 5C2 flash hider
    -Daniel Defense Lite 12" rail
    -Troy Di-Optic folding BUIS
    -Aimpoint Comp M4s

Here are a some photos of the end product:

    Gratz man, nice rifle!

One thing, do you like the Di-Optic sights? I had them but ended up selling them cus I can get use to it. Also kinda weird to me is how close you have your rear folding sight mounted to your aimpoint. Do you keep it folded down? Or leave it up and just co-witness it?

I like the di-optic. It took some getting used to, but it works for me. Honestly... just slapped on the BUIS for the photo cuz I got em delivered today, making the build officially complete. I was in a hurry to get some snap shots of it all done to show off. I plan on moving it back as far as I can and keeping it folded down.

There are two major limiting factors:

    1) You need to use a lower that is off of the banned list. How they determine which lowers are acceptable and which ones are not, I'm not sure.

    2) You MUST have a "fixed" magazine that carries no more than 10 rounds. "Fixed" meaning that you need to use a "tool" in order to drop it from the well. The legislature doesn't define specifically what a "tool" is, so it is commonly the tip of an unfired round(hence the name bullet button mag lock), a screwdriver, etc. It just can't drop with the press of a finger.

If I didn't have the mag lock I couldn't have and of the "evil features" and it would be considered an assault rifle. Some of these so called "evil features" are pistol grips, VFG's, telescoping stock's, flash hiders.

The exact same AWB the feds used to have. Some geniuses in Albany want to add VFG's to the list now too.

    I thought NY was worse.

We can have collapsable stocks, flash suppressors, pistol grips and vfg's if we want. We just have to have an off list lower, and a fixed magazine of 10 rounds or less. Does not even require any registration.

When I travel to a non ban state, I adjust my radlock to allow standard mag release operation. I also assemble my 30 round magazines (again, only after I am out of state), and easy breezy, I am on the same functional page as the rest of the free world.

    Sorry to thread jack!
