I'm getting to that "lighter is better" and "KISS is better" age. All I would need here in is a high quality 16" M4 style patrol carbine with AimPoint PRO.

Won't mention the brand because I don't need the flak--suffice it to say that it works well for me (and yes, I have owned and used a Colt). A1 upper (I like them) with a LW 16" barrel, D-Fender; a 1.5X24 ACOG, Jard non-adj 3# trigger, Surefire G2 in an Elzetta bracket; GI sling.
I drive Toyotas and principally shoot revolvers so my tolerance for failures is VERY low; If and when my M4gery shows signs of not cutting it I will mercilessly make changes.
So far it isn't broke; works every time (KISS) and does right by me.
If I get another AR it will be a Colt because the outlay between that and any others is comparable nowadays, and they may be the currency of the future.
Yeah it is old, lol, I saw it up and was like WTF? I remember that.
I was away from shooting for most of last year , and this year (life got in the way) but got back to it recently. Been enjoying the hell out of my SBR.
Finally bought an optic and had my first run with it tonight at the local Carbine night. I absolutely love my T1, man what a difference, especially for follow up shots and awkward positions.
Put this up in the pic thread the other day:
12.5" DD CHF upper
AAC breakout
DD fixed front & rear BUIS
VTAC RSM
VTAC FDE tube (11")
VTAC VFG
DD BCG
BCM Mod 4 CH
BAD Lever
BAD ASS ambi safety
Magpul ACS
VCAS sling
Colt USGI mags with red springs and Magpul baseplates
Noveske second lower
DD LPK
H2 buffer
Aimpoint T1 W/ Larue Tall mount (not pictured)
Magpul MOE +
AAC M42K can
Have a Noveske end plate on hand for installation, just needs a dedicated white light and I'm good. Runs like a champ, recoil is nothing, much more accurate than I am, and the can holds poi/poa perfectly which surprised me with both Black Hills and PMC XTAC ammo.
Such a fun rifle to shoot!
Thanks to Ben @ boresight for a kick ass build!

Thanks brother, just posted to give you ideas. It's what I ended up with, when we bought our house last year one of my AR's had to go to help the down payment fund, so I sold my basic 16" setup in favor of this.
For "my" uses, this rifle covers everything I could need and want.
And yes I love the bag, got lucky and a local LE distributor hooked me up at a discounted price. Their 5.11 rep personally handled it, got a hell of a price.
Let us know what you end up with.![]()

If I had to choose only one, it would be my Colt that I assembled from parts exactly how I wanted it.
14.5 Colt SOCOM barrel with P/W BCM A2X
H2 buffer with Sprinco blue
LMT rear sight
KAC RAS
![]()
Quality upper/lower and BCG
12.5" bbl in 1/7 or 1/8 (either Noveske, LaRue - LW, Centurion Arms)
11" free floated handguard
Handstop (either LaRue or IWC)
BCM Gunfighter mod 1
BCM mod 4 CH

Vltor Imod stock
Surefire hider and can
Troy flip ups
X300 (at 12 o'clock)
Swarovski Z6i 1-6 w/ BRT reticle
ADM mount
VTAC padded sling
ETA: if NFA was not an option bbl length would be a 14.5 w/ perm hider bringing it to 16".

Before you suggest that licensing, background checks, or other restrictions for the 2nd Amendment are reasonable... Apply those same ideas to the 1st and 4th Amendments. Then tell me how reasonable they are.
I would have to say I'd pick my recent favorite
12"1:7 FN Barrel
Centurion carbine cutout rail
BCM BCG
DD1.5 fixed rear
Aimpoint M2
G&R LPK
Geissele SD-C
BAD-ASS selector
Vltor A5 and emod
Vickers sling
Not pictured - but coming soon
Surefire m300
OPS Inc M4-M + custom ops collar/MB (chose the M4-M due to the fact it's a smaller 'reflex style' can that'll fit over the free barrel I have forward of the FSB)
Kinda recent picture
