I think I would want the one thats gonna give me the most ammo and the best range. SO it kinda hard to decide do I go light with a AR15 or heavy with a SAW. choices choices.

ok I think I would take the BAR in .30-06. yup that would be the one fighting rifle I would choose. Wish I owned one too.

    16"-18" barrel
I like the feel of all magpul furniture
aftermarket trigger set to fire any mil spec ammo (meaning not to light of pull)
    BUIS of your choice
    Light setup with surefire light
If for home defense I really like a laser but have not settle on which one I want yet.
    Collapsable stock
Flash hider and not a muzzle break especially for inside the house defense.

    I'm with the minority here.

    Mk18Mod1 upper.
    Aimpoint
    Light
    Sling

I really like this set up. (Realize it is not a true Mk18 upper.)
    Surefire can ready!

As a "fighting rifle", for me, weight is primary. In a SHTF scenario, I don't envision myself as part of a group, or looking to be an offensive force. At my age and abilities, I would be more involved with concealment and evasion. With a pack and ammo, the lightest reliable carbine would be (is) my choice. I do have an SPR upper, but I don't believe I'd be able to take it along. My carbine has a BCM 14.5" LWT upper and the lower has a two-stage trigger.
