In one sentence then a Recce would be an AR with a 16 inch precision stainless barrel, a free floated handguard or rail, clean trigger, the rest being whatever the owner prefers?

Correct. And usually a close to midrange variable optic, like a 1-4x scope.

So what's an Afghan then? I'm guessing something very light. Don't laugh at me now, I'm a Fudd at heart and a Fudd for decades. I didn't get into this black gun stuff until three and a half years ago.

    I tried Google.

So the Afghan is not a particularly light gun.

14.5" Noveske Stainless Steel barrel, not very light at around 10.5 Lbs. But VERY accurate.

As Skidevil pictured above, it's Noveske's model designation for their Stainless Steel barreled 14.5" Midlength. I had one also but ended up selling it cause the barrel profile was too thick for my liking and intended use for that particular length barrel..It was an accurate rifle though but, I already had a 16" and 18" at the time and those filled the precision role for me..
