14.5" mid? Why not go 16"? The mid-length gas system is pretty much proprietary, since there is no standard on exactly how big the port size should be, etc.

My one fighting rifle would be this:

Optionally replacing the BC2.0 with an AAC 51t FH to mount my can.

But, with all the cut down KAC barrels and urx rails you have with super tiny gas ports and nt4 suppressors, you might know more than I do about how uber reliable that set up truly is.

Still, I'd love to see just one single pic or the ultimate in flying unicorns, a video.... But I know that's asking a LOT!
    You know what sucks?

At one point, right before I changed my uppers (ended up getting rid of my KAC uppers) I actually had pictures of the gas ports, that a friend did so he could measure them:

I was going to post them here specifically because I wouldn't be owning them anymore (Reason I don't post 'em. I value anonymity), so I'd have no reason not to show anybody:

Then the computer that my friend had the pics on totally crashed. We've been trying to restore it for months.

Retardation. Glad I didn't tell anybody that the pics were coming at least.

But so far I've owned 4 barrels with small ports, and as long as you run the LMT Enhanced carrier, I've never seen any sort of failure. (Except for bolt locking back on really small ports.)

    VLTOR A5 helps as well.

Rotate is a little lower sitting, and I use an absolute co-witness. Otherwise I'd agree with you.

Smaller optics are also cheaper - so if you find yourself considering upgrading to this, some minor changes (BCM/DD/Centurion/Noveske barrel with URX handguard instead of bespoke SR-15 upper; a 1-4x or 1-6x optic) can bring the price range actually substantially closer, without giving up much capability - but I really agree that for a pair of budget-irrelevant rifles, I'd want almost exactly what you outlined on the 5.56 one (I like the SSA-E over the SD-C, ACS-L over STR, and run a Mk6 Leupy), and have a .308 with the Mk8 optic.
Sounds like we are all pretty close.

KAC SR-15E3 Carbine SBR w/ Surefire suppressor
    Leupold Mk 6 (7.62 reticle)
    KAC 45 degree offset sights
    Magpul MIAD
    Geissele S3G
    Vltor A5 system
Magpul ACS (although I will probably pick up an ACS-L)

Pic not great but here's the set up.

Yes it is. It's the Match series, not the select. It has a unique profile too, kind of in between medium and lightweight contour it seems to me.

Gotcha and thanks. I'll PM you later so not to derail but that barrel is on the top of my shortlist to buy next.
