Yes, no doubt. VERY different out at longer ranges. You would need to know the difference.

Plus, you then have the advantage of just switching mags to supersonic if you need to reach out, or subsonic if you want to be very quiet closer in.

Do you know any hard evidence of terminal ballistics from the 300 BLK subsonic rounds? The regular rounds look very promising but I would like to see data for the subsonic rounds.

Is there even any 300 BLK ammo in production right now that is readily available?

the REM factory 220gr subsonics are the only ones out currently. They are available from many sources, from local shops to Cheaper than Dirt.

I know there are a bunch of various loads scheduled for release over the summer and into the fall, including low cost FMJ supersonic, hunting rounds, barrier blind, etc...

The best bet currently if you don't want to reload is the new Hornady 300 Whisper® ammo- the 110gr is particularly nice.

What do you want to know?

They fly far, have a very high BC and hold their velocity well and are very accurate.

They do not expand and penetrate like crazy... up to 30" in gel.

There are various expanding subsonic bullets in development that will really improve performance.

Will 300BLK subsonic knock down a deer at 200 or 300 yards with confidence (assuming the shooter does his part)?

if hit in the right place, but again, I PERSONALLY would not hunt anything with subsonic ammo.

UNTIL there is reliably-expanding subsonic ammo available that is.

Thanks Jason, I will most likely wait till the round is more "established" before making a decision on what caliber to go with for a LR precision setup (that has good ballistics out to 800 yds).

In your opinion/research, how do the ballistics for LR precision compare to .308 out to 800 yds?
