I would consider 300 BLK an up to 600yd weapon with supersonic ammo. BUT, it's not a long range round and should not be treated as one.

If we're talking supersonic use, a 6.8 or 308 is a more effective long range round... That's not what the 300 is designed for.

If we are talking zero to 400yds with 30 cal bullets and incredible flexibilty with subsonic and supersonic... mix in the function in an AR, 30 rounds in standard mags, standard AR bolts, AWESOME SBR performance etc... then that's what the 300 is for.

If you want a long range precision gun, get a 308, or 6.5 or 260rem etc etc.

    Good to know. Thanks Jason!

I like the idea of a sub 10" 300 BLK SBR, but that will be down the road...

You're right, I definitely see it filling the role in my application. Now how to pay for it...

I am using a 300BLK with 9 inch BBL for what the OP describes. I am currently shooting the 220s and the only thing is, MaxRange is around 120 for BS0.

Renegade, that's a great looking rifle. What kind of accuracy are you getting out of it? Are you using the factory sub loads or making your own?

I have been using the factory Remington 220s.

It has been too hot and too windy here in Texas the last few weeks to get a clear accuracy picture. I have it zero'd right now at 50 yards, and it was one hole big after 10 rounds. Won't know for sure until I test some supersonic ammo, but it will meet my needs with subsonic ammo. Hogs Beware!

    ETA:

Very quiet too. Without a doubt the quietest centerfire rifle cartridge I have.

I would recommend a 100 yard zero. I did a lot of trajectories and that gives the most reasonable max point blank range for just shooting without doing any adjustments. You can then shoot +- 3.5 inches out to 120 yards.
