Oh and after this fiasco that SureFire caused (almost ala GemTech & their BS that caused us silencer rights) I have a hard time buying their LED plastic.

But like I said they make a helluva flashlight though!

Sorta funny because the only suppressors I've used or seen in the Army have been SureFire. I know others are out there - AAC for the SCAR (are they even being produced anymore), Gemtech, KAC, possibly others....

What was the RFI testing that only AAC survived?

ETA: and that BS you just posted, that's been covered many, many times before.

We had AAC and KAC suppressors... and another no-namer I can't remember. I was Infantry and not part of the logistics until later when I was the Brigade S4A so I only saw them when I was a Company XO and you bet I had one. That was a long time ago though... been out for a minute or two.

But hardly BS; AAC survived because none of the other manufacturers suppressors could perform under the heavy duress of testing.

Sorry - this has really derailed the Surefire thread - didn't answer your question; The RFI testing was completed over the course of our tour. About 8 months into our tour we had to turn them in to some OD Warrant Officers at the LSA before RIPing with our gaining units. That's the last I saw of them. For ordering purposes the NSN's are listed on their website. The one on my M4-2000 reads NSN: 1005-81-543-4656. I don't have a clerk or ULLS-G box to check to see if it is still good but I would imagine that you could since you are still Active Duty.

But since I am flipping the coin I buy what I want - and I know what I like and most importantly why I like it. Second helping of AAC for me please. Thanks.

The BS I'm talking about is the lawsuit you dropped at the top of the page.....not the question of AAC/SF. Both are very capable companies.

Why on earth would a Company XO have a supressor? I would rather see a PVT on a team have a suppressor than an XO, CO, or even a PL. Kinda like how the supply clerks and HHC people get all the neat stuff while the line platoons beg, borrow, and steal?

because I was the xo of course! if you don't think for 1 second I wouldn't pull rank in iraq to get a good suppressor you're out of your mind ... it was really my first exposure to silencers.

"According to a press release from SureFire, “The FMBS solicitation was the most comprehensive modern suppressor evaluation conducted by the U.S. military to date. [Suppressor systems were] subjected to prolonged testing on a variety of firearms platforms. SureFire suppressors were chosen based on test criteria such as: Reliability, Sound Reduction, Accuracy, Point of Impact Shift, Endurance/Durability, and Operational Suitability"

maybe I'm out of date. I thought for sure that ac won the military contract
. it was the same time frame remington purchase the company. I just called & left a message with a good friend of mine who still works in the contracting division of the army corp of engineers in dc so hopefully I'll get an answer.

I was specifically involved with the acquisition of our KAC suppressors in Iraq, and after RIP/TOA we returned with all of them.

I'm curious as to why you left them there, and why an XO had one. We never had a suppressor issued to any officer.
Why do the loudest do the least?

Because he pulled rank. Isnt that what all the officers do? They like getting all the cool stuff so they can show it off at the chow hall.
