220 gr SMK at approx 1040 fps from a suppressed Contender.

Raccoon at 60 yds shot through both shoulders, little hole in, little hole out, ran about 50 yds and stopped to rest. Had to be shot again.

Raccoon #2 was shot same distance, but in the head, dropped immediately.

A possum shot through the breast and ran over 100 yds little hole in, little hole out.

Third Raccoon shot from 20 yds away. The exit wound was about 2" long and narrow. Either he was fat enough to give the bullet time to yaw or it hit a big enough bone to upset it. He still ran about 75 yds and had to be shot again.

Shooting a watermelon isn't shooting animal tissue, but you can see that exact same thing with the 220gr SMK in my video. Small hole in, small hole out with no movement whatsoever from the watermelon.

I did read somewhere that the 240gr SMK behaves substantially differently in tissue, but I can't find that thread right now.

Do you have metered numbers? I asked on another forum and was told by Mike Mers that the 300 was louder, as I understand it.

No, I don't have comparison numbers. 5.56mm SBR rattles your teeth with serious concussion.

It is unlikely Mike Mers said that.

I mean to say, suppressed vs. suppressed, using subsonic ammunition. This is what someone using Mike Mers screen-name posted in response to my question:

Statement made by an individual also wanting to know what I asked you:
I'd like to know what the meter readings are for supersonic ammo. I would swear that suppressed supersonic 300blk sounds a good bit quieter than suppressed supersonic 556.

    Thanks.
Response from Mike Mers, given while quoting the above:
    Not true

    Supersonic is louder

    t.bone6.8,

Please refrain from posting in this thread. Based upon what I have seen you are simply trying to stir the shit pot. Mr. Silvers has been posting data and information from the inception about this round.

If people don't like it, then stay away. Go buy some retro AR/AK and see how that works for you.

You can build or buy a model 7 in 308 too.
700s in 223 are the same length action with spacers in the box mag.

Rotational velocity (of a rifle bullet) decays much more slowly than forward velocity. This is a VERY! valid point, especially with yaw-dependent designs.
