I shot the annual Alaska Peace Officers Association Match in Fairbanks on July 9th and me and my shooting partner did pretty good. I took 2nd place out of 30 to 35 shooters (not sure how many exactly) and my partner Alaskacop556 took 4th place. We placed 1st in the team results. My department got to take the traveling trophy back after losing it the last two years to Fairbanks PD. Each year the winner gets to put their name and year they won the team even on plaque that goes on the trophy. I will take a picture of the traveling trophy later as it’s in the shop right now getting engraved. This shoot started in 1989. Several police agencies were there: Alaska State Troopers, Fairbanks Police, Fairbanks Airport Police, Army MP’s from and their special investigations unit, Doyon Security, two District Attorney’s were there, a smattering of federal law enforcement as well. It was a fun match put on by the TAPS USPSA club in Fairbanks. They had three fun stages.
I won a Remington 887 shotgun. I think I will keep this gun to use as a prize on the table of the three gun match I host annually. Here are some pictures and videos. One stage was not recorded because my camera person did not realize I was up shooting it.

My duty gun that I used.

I shot the regular TAPS USPSA match the next day and some of the other cops joined me and gave it a try most seemed to enjoy themselves. On the second day I shot my open gun. They changed the courses slightly by adding hard cover here and there.

I had a great time at both matches. On the USPSA match I got 3rd in my division and 5th overall. But in reality I sucked as the 4th guy in open was shooting a ported 8 shot Taurus revolver without an optic for fun. So really I was last in open. But I still have fun.
