I like the heavier profile barrel; not as heavy as an HBAR but just right for me. I have a Colt SOCOM upper/barrel for one of my rifles, and it is my favorite rifle. I am not a fan of the mid-length barrel profile, and have owned two of these uppers. The first was a RRA 16" several years ago, but sold it before BCM came out with theirs. The last one was a BCM 16", and still could not get used to it.
My preference is still carbine style rifle; for me it just feels better, and with a heavy buffer I hardly notice the difference. The only reason I am looking at BCM is that I want to see if there is a difference between the Colt.
Please, I don't buy things because the military has them; after carrying a M-4 for a while, if I had a preference, I would rather have either my MP-5 or AUG for duty use.
OKAY.. 1st post for me..
Just got in the PSA 16" Hammer Forged Carbine M4 Upper..
Ordered last Sunday and got yesterday (Monday).
I had them sub-out the std. FSB for a low-pro(for future upgrades)
Barrel is marked.. 5.56 NATO 1/7 CHF CL PALMETTO
Here is the Gas Block..
The STAKED Gas Key on the BCG..
The PSA BCG
Picture of the CHAMBER area..
The unit had some white GREASE on the upper near the barrel nut area..
Finished put-together.. with YHM Brake, Hogue Grip, MagPul MBUS, RVG, cheap Quad, etc....
They left the A2 loose for me (requested it that way) so I could mount my YHM brake..
its got to be a better upper than my 1/9 DPMS Oracle 5.56 upper I just sold for $365 last week..
Taking it out Saturday and will do a post with it..
(side note I have a cheap 6x32 scope sitting here so I will get some GROUPS for you folks too)..

I was going to go with Bravo Company (BCM).. but they would not change the fixed FSB to a low-pro.. that was the deal-breaker for me..
as a side note the barrel where the YHM gas-block is mount was not dimpled for the set screws...
I will test the rifle for function, then dimple the barrel myself..
