They buy the SS blanks from them. That is it.

It's definitely my absolute last choice in barrel profile, that's for sure.

I wonder if they got them as a "take them or leave them" deal? At a really hot price, maybe.

SOCOM M4A1 heavy barrel with M4 cuts is worse.

The fact that they could be selling a mid length 16" with a more functional profile, like that of a Noveske, or a LW profile is annoying. Would it really cost any more to machine a better profile and drill it for mid length gas?
100% agree. I don't understand the allure of the M4 profile. Raise your hand if you have an M203 attached to your 16in barrel, semi auto AR.

I suspect its a lowest common denominator sort of thing. IIRC, BCM's first offering was an M4 profile also. While most savvy end users have moved beyond the M4 profile, the average shooter has not. Most average Joes still like the cool factor of using something similar to what they see our troops carrying. As an introductory item for a company expanding from parts to complete uppers and other parts under their own "brand", it seems like PSA is definitely taking a conservative approach. It makes sense if you intend to build a reputation for quality products. I'm sure they have learned from the mistakes of others (ie Spikes) and would prefer to avoid the hassle of trying to prove that their product is what they claim it is. If they come out front and disclose the barrel source, they don't have to deal with all the speculation that comes along with a new product and the questions that always arise regarding specs. It appears to me that the disclosure of the barrel source is a good way to obtain credibility for a newcomer.

Could be, but from my understanding, it is always "made to order" and the buyer provides ALL the specs (not FN). So you could have a buyer give poor gas pot size, chamber size, etc and get what they ordered.

PSA is not the only one advertising FN CHF barrels now. Spikes Tactical is making lightweight CHF uppers with FN barrels too.

That still does not make the statements by PSA correct on their website.
