I live about 20 minutes from PSA's storefront.... If I get time tomorrow I'll ride over there and get some pictures so everyone can have a definite answer. If not tomorrow I know I'll be over their way Monday

they are in fact fn barrels psa says this in the thread. Spikes just released an upper to and is clearly marked fn. http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_3_124/5...ed_Uppers.html Perhaps the rule is they may not sell to civilians and distributors but does not specify not to sell blanks to manufactures. Are they even blanks or completely finished by fn?

I suppose that since the US military does not use hammer forged barrels, FN can sell their hammer forged barrels to whomever they want.

It has been almost common knowledge on this site that Noveske & Centurion got their HF barrels from FN and rumored that BCM did as well.
BCM states on there website that they use Mil-Spec 11595E - Barrel Steel. Is this fn steel? It has been stated that fn's "machine gun steel" is better than standard mil-spec. If true how dues it compare to Colt's steel or other military manufacturers for that matter?

The specs on PSA's stuff are really appealing to me with the prices they are offering. I've been looking for a month, TRYING to find anyone saying ANYTHING bad about any of PSA's uppers/lowers etc. I can't find one bitch, complaint, grumble, anything? That's speaking volumes to me. The internet is a treasure trove of complainers and when you can't find a single person who's unhappy with these products, that's impressive.

If these show up in a midlength, I'll go for one. Does that make me crazy?

I've been wondering the same thing about their BCGs and LPKs. For crying out loud they offer a "complete your lower" package for $99 that includes a mil-spec extension/stock and everything else to finish a stripped lower.

I've not seen any negatives however the question is do people just HAVE them with no complaints/issues or are they actually USING them with no complaints/issues?

They seem to be offering everything we're told is good and their prices satiate my thrifty side. At this point I'm not in a rush so I'm hoping more people will weigh in.

I dunno but I don't see why FN cannot make an AR/M4 type of barrel that does not match the specs for the military contract and sell it to a customer / manufacturer. I would have guessed that they cannot sell the parts that are made to be supplied for gov contract specs, but what stops them from making an AR/M4 barrel to a different spec for an independent customer? They aren't making a complete rifle. They make all kinds of barrels for independents. Why not this type? Or does their contract specifically say no parts for the AR/M4 platform period?

One of these in a middie with MOE hanguards & on a complete PSA lower might be on my short list for a good backup / beater / truck gun.
