You want the answer in lbs or tons?Really guy. I know the difference in process/hoops one must jump through in obtaining SBR/AOW/Class 3/etc. and a tricked out AR. I'm just saying that in a justified act of self defense it shouldn't matter what you use. Pick the one that works the best for you whatever it may be.
I think one should have to pass some kind of live fire test + written portion class to obtain a CCW. At least you know that person isn't a complete moron. It keeps yahoos from carrying w/o having ANY shooting knowledge. Because quite honestly a blind man could have passed the shooting portion and a child could have passed the written. Hell, a blind child could have passed the test I had to take.
And yes, that is sarcasm.
I believe the distances on my test were 3-5-7-10-and might have maxed out at 12 or 15. Not sure. Round count was like 15-15-10-10-10. The written portion was made up of 10 T/F and 10 a-b-c multi. choice. "Open Book"= use your notes with questions like "how many chambers does a revolver have?" and True or False, always treat a firearm as if it were loaded?

Sorry I snapped at you Ed L. It's just that I saw Irish's post right after yours and got upset.
[QUOTE=kh86;1048572]Like no one has called me a dummy before
Just to be clear, I am not saying that if you use a legally owned NFA firearm you are going to turn a justified shooting bad, only that I am unclear of the NFA/ATF technicalities if you have to surrender it to the police in the wake of the defensive shooting.
Back on topic..
Despite me living in a rather rural gun friendly area, and in one of the the most free states in the nation in regards to gun rights, and in a state with a stand-your-ground castle doctrine, this is the way I look at it:
I don't care what weapon I use to kill an attacker. I don't care if its a single-shot .410, a .270 bolt riflle, a 9mm pistol, a "scary" AR, or whatever gun it may be, I'm going to shoot the attacker(s) with whatever weapon I can use if I fear for me or my family's lives. To me, me and their lives surpass any of the legal battles or fines or even a certain amount of prison time.
Maybe I'm wrong, but thats how I see it. I could care less what the court thinks of my "high powered rifle". Why own a gun to protect yourself if you constant fear what will happen if it does?
But what then is capital punishment but the most premeditated of murders, to which no criminal's deed, however calculated it may be, can be compared? - Albert Camus
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe
