Body mechanics play a large part in controlling muzzle rise. Use a solid aggressive stance. Make sure that you're not fully releasing the trigger, or worse removing your finger from the trigger, after each shot.

[QUOTE=PatrolRifleGroup;1050168]We just finished up with our second patrol rifle certification class for the year. Friday was low light training on our indoor range. We had a wide variety of muzzle devices on the range: A2's, BC's, Phantoms, Vortex's, SF's, and even two brakes (that are getting changed out before they hit the street).

Ok so from you experience what device do you prefer?
As far as all the input that points to my shooting dose anyone have a good link or vid that I could use to critique my shooting?
All the input thus far is welcomed and helpful.
VTAC Half and Half Drill. For stance, trigger/grip control, and aggressive snap up to target.
This Thread documents my experience using a compensator on a duty gun for a while. Long story short, close proximity to other ears, and unconventional shooting positions suck.
Having said that, I attended VTAC Carbine 1.5 last month, and saw several good shooters run comps of various makes on their guns (2 PWSs, 2 Battlecomps, and several Surefires). I was particularly impressed by the way these guys were able to shoot with them, but cognizant of the fact that its mostly the shooter and not the gun. The Battlecomp in particular seemed to do well around the barricade without kicking up too much dust.
So, for me personally, I'm sticking with an A2 for my HD carbine, for now. I might revisit a comp in the future, but not until I tighten up the nut behind the trigger.
The advice above is worth exactly what you paid for it.
I run threaded Phantoms and Battle Comps. The Phantoms in general doing an outstanding job as flash hiders, but they are mostly for running my suppressor. I am slowly switching the guns that I don't run with a suppressor over to BC's. This is what works for me and my particular use of the AR platform.
