I have a Spikes lower built with a DPMS LPK and experienced similar problems with PMAGs. In my case the bolt catch was dragging on the edge of the magazine, making the mag harder to seat and causing the bolt to sometimes lock back on a loaded magazine. Try inserting loaded mags in the lower with the upper removed and see if the bolt catch moves when you insert the mag.

Strip the lower and start from scratch with a G&R lpk. (or something like it).
Really. Quit screwing around.

STS - gone but not forgotten.
everything is suddenly seating properly. not sure what the issue was...it may have just needed some time to break in. thanks for the help everyone, and now i have another issue which i will be opening a new thread on.![]()
What is your fix with a nail file? I actually have been having this issue when doing tactical reloads with PMags. I don't tend to have the same issue with GI mags but can happen now and then. I do load my mags to 27-28 rounds. On an open bolt there is no issue. My lowers are an LMT factory no modifications other than a bad lever, and 2 spikes lowers I built using Daniel Defense parts kits. Your thoughts would be great, I have 35 Pmags GEN 2 Window.
PS not sure it matters but uppers are one LMT with BCM bolt and carrier and the others are Noveskee 100%.
Thanks David

I cant personally recommend the G&R LPK, its the only LPK I have ever used that I actually disliked.
The part finish on mine was very uneven, some of the parts were black, others were a SP1 like greenish hue, and the safety selector has a nice "click" on safe, but a mushy "sometimes there, sometimes not" click on fire.
I ended up replacing most of the parts from a Daniel Defense LPK, which in my experiance has been a much better finished and fit product.
YMMV.
If I recall correctly, Grant's LPK consists of components from different manufacturers (all GTG, of course), so this would account for different parts having different finishes. Not that the finish of the internals would determine the quality of the LPK.
I just ordered one of his LPKs, so I'll see how everything looks.

All of my DPMS parts kits have worked really well. HOWEVER, they are all also circa 2002 or 2003 kits in terms of when I bought them. I have not tried one since.
The DD parts kits I have used have all been GTG.
The G&R parts kits I have used have all been GTG. I like the G&R ones I have used better than the DD. Seems to work slightly smoother. I have several G&R kits that were bought in 2 batches, approx a year apart. All were GTG.
The one RRA parts kit I used, around end of 2008, is OK, but a little mushy feeling in some areas. The gun works fine however. But the G&R and DD ones were much better.
