I think by the time I shoot out the barrel on my SR15, either Knights will have a barrel replacement program in place, or there will be much better weapons out there to replace the SR15 with.
Given I have another rifle, the likelihood I'll ever shoot out the barrel on the SR15 is fairly remote. I think we should all stop worry about the equipment and go out and shoot more.
They are much stronger than a standard AR bolt due to design improvements. Do a search here and you will find a ton of info on the SR15 and what makes it unique. KAC offers a 20K round warranty* on their bolts, so that should tell you something. If you're spending over $6K on ammo, the cost of a new bolt or barrel becomes inconsequential.

Agreed on the barrel wearing out. KAC uses top quality barrel steel, cold hammer forged, and chrome lined. I would put them on-par with DD, FN, etc, if not better.
I have never heard of somebody worrying about wearing one of those other barrels out. Talking about the same w/ a KAC barrel seems like a waste of time.
I'd say for everyone to consider Pat Roger's Filthy 14.....how many rounds did he get out of one barrel (and I forget how many bolts)...and it was a non-CHF BCM 16" middy. I'd wager a KAC would top that easily.
I keep a second bolt handy. For a while, I had two SR15's and the spare bolt (stripped) then I traded off one of the uppers. I forget how many rounds Travis Haley's SR15 barrel and bolt had through it, but if I remember correctly, it was pushing 60,000 or 80,000 when it was sent in. I am almost positive it was the same barrel and if anything at all, there was one replacement bolt, but you'd have to search that one. I think the barrel had opened up about 2 MOA at most.
Not something to really worry about, as I don't think there's a single report on a sheered bolt lug. I had over 14,000 on one and about 4,000 or so on the other. No problems at all and both barrels held their accuracy like new.
Having said that, I have broken a front sight and bent another on the URX II…. so now I keep them folded down.
Like mentioned above about the cam pin and bolt, the firing pin is also proprietary as the cam pin hole is smaller and a normal firing pin will not fit through it. I'm sure if you really felt the need to do it, you could have the barrel extension replaced so you could use a standard bolt.

Update: Pat Rogers got just over 16,000 rounds from a std BCM bolt assembly under a rigorous training class firing schedule.
KAC's bolt is stronger at all the failure points than a std bolt (Bolt lugs, bolt face, cam pin hole).
The KAC bolt has also had the extractor hinge pin moved forward (closer to the bolt face) than a std bolt. This allows the DUAL extractor springs to supply more mechanical leverage since their 'lever' is longer. Even if it only used a single std extractor spring, this would multiply the spring force by itself. But then they moved to a longer-spring-length dual extractor spring setup. This greatly increases spring life.
All things considered, the KAC bolt is simply superior to a std BCM bolt (which is already the cream of the crop of std AR15 bolts). Nothing is unbreakable...but the KAC bolt (and receiver extension) advances the art.
If TH was getting that much life out of his bolt, I would not be surprised.![]()

Is the radius from the lug to the bolt body more pronounced than say the LMT enhanced bolt? Anyone got a pic?

Same idea as the ARP superbolt as well then. Thanks...
