    Free Float RIS opinions?

I am looking at building a lightweight barreled AR with a A1 flashider. I like the CASV alot but am very interested in the RIS Free float anyone run one? I'm not a huge fan of the tube free floats and not want anouther Larue or DD railed gun.

    Thanks

You should look at the newer URX handguards if you are looking into KAC. Also, the Daniel Defense options are nice.

I also am not a huge fan of the tube guards, but they are light as hell, which is nice.

The URX and RAS rock but I love the ease of intsallation and removal of the RIS free float.

The worst part about the URX is the cost of the special wrench. If you've got a good shop near you that has the hardware, they are a good option.

    Good luck on your search!

Yea I noticed that extra cost. Its bad enough I had to get a cheap DD wrench but the KAC one is crazy.

Take a look at the rails from Centurion Arms. You can use a standard barrel nut and all you need to do is cut the delta ring assembly off.

Dunno why you wouldn't want the RISII from DD.

I would say the next best thing is the KAC URX for that slim-line awesomeness look.

I installed a Omega x FSP on my rifle and a RIS on my friends. Both are relatively easy to install but you need the $10 DD wrench.

The Omega X is much thinner and way more comfortable to grip IMO. Its also lighter and Midway USA had them for $199 and a $20 off code(on back order)...almost 1/2 the cost of the RIS.
Also, you get the non rotating QD. Even for the same price I would take the Omega X...unless I needed to mount a grenade launcher.
