I've owned two LWRCs. A REPR and a PSD upper. The PSD was ok but you don't get much for the high price tag. I bought it back when it first came out and I'll admit for a VERY short time, I bought into the piston fad. I can get a KAC with a $300 trigger, SOPMOD kit, high quality rail that had a very high price tag a while back, a $500+ bolt carrier group and a KAC rear sight.
For about the same price, I can get the LWRC with a GI trigger, less expensive Vltor stock, Troy sights, a $350 bolt carrier group and whatever parts they use in the lower.
Now, even though you do get an extra pound of materials, everything else is less expensive and some is lower quality. So, I just don't see the value... What the heck are we getting for all that money, a piston system? No thanks.
I learned my lesson quickly with piston guns. Even though they ran fine, I just don't see the value and won't be buying any more. I have an LMT mk18 upper with a Daniel Defense RIS II rail. It seems every single part is manufactured to a higher standard than the PSD upper which costs twice as much. Unfortunately, I knew better when I fell for the piston marketing, but I bought them anyway. Though it only lasted 2 or 3 months, I ended up with the MRP 12" and the PSD 8" uppers. The REPR is a little different and though it was a decent rifle, I'll take my SCAR H any day of the week.

Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe
