Now that is some funny stuff.

When I still had my Colt A2, I would use the Appleseed AQT targets out to 100 yards. Granted, I could only see the 100 yard standing and maybe 200 yard kneeling (it's been a while) targets, they were still beneficial to see how my shots grouped at 100 yards. They are really beneficial to use at 50 yards, especially when focusing my front post on a little 400 yard target.

I take a large 4' x 4' sheet of white or yellow paper that is at my gun club.

I take a big black marker and put a 4" dot on the yellow sheet. Now the 4 MOA dot of the aimpoint will completely cover the black dot so I know I'm centered. I turn the brightness down so I can see the black dot through the translucent red dot.

I zero with this setup and I can see hits that are way off and troubleshoot any problems.

I don't like using grid type targets for RDS as I think the dot floats too much in my vision, and I consistently get a better zero with the above set up.

Start at 25 to get close, then go out to 100 with the DirtyBird targets. They are large and the splatter makes hits very easy to see. I haven't found the need for anything more technical or complicated than this for my needs.

After zeroing LaRue Predatar 5.56, sitting, bench, PMAG monopod, 100 yards, XM193 55 gr, 20 round 2.5" group.

I use these for everything now.

Paul Howe's long distance target might suffice:

True, but you don't actually expect me to admit that with everybody looking, do you?

Whew. I just read this whole thread. Quite a bit of writing on the proper use of terminology.

I was taught that the best zero (or whatever) is one that you have confirmed and know how to use.

I like to do it at 100 yards.

Nice shootin Jchops.....Are you sure thats a 2.5" group??? For some reason it looks smaller to me, maybe just under 2". It's probably just an illusion.

    Either way it's nice

ETA: Nevermind. My eyes have adjusted and i can now see that judging by the .224" holes, the target is a bigger one.
