    MagPul MOE color for Midwest

I've set up my carbine with the MagPul MOE stock, forearm and pistol grip combination.

I am using this along with a IWC light mount, a Surefire G2X, Aimpoint T-1/LaRue mount, Troy BUIS, and VCAS sling.

This setup suits my needs. The entire gun is black. For a Patrol Rifle/HD/get my ass home from work w/o issues carbine, black works.

I have a second Colt 6920 that I am going to set up the same as the first gun. But I was thinking about going with a color other than black so that it might blend in better if I were out and about in nature.

I'm in SW Ohio. Right now everything is very green. But during the winter, it's shades of brown. Which MagPul color would be a better base to use year around in this type of environment, FDE or Foliage green?

This may sound like a anal question. But there are no stores in my area that stock MagPul to where I can compare the colors first hand. Does anyone have both that can comment?

Or should I just stay with black and invest in some spray paint?

Why not pick one of the two (fde or foliage) since they are the same price as the black and then if it doesn't work for you go with the paint

Rattle can brown. I live in the PNW and I just bought 4 shades of brown for my rifles. No green.

If you don't want to rattle can your rifle, I would suggest FDE. I think it blends well in alot of environments. I get all four seasons here as well. Anything is better than all black though.....

Also in SW OH, I think I'd go with the FDE. My personal AR is painted with a tan base and some OD and maybe brown (it's been a while since I painted it).

    Lightbulb

I'm in Pittsburgh, and my FDE project AR is underway. Kinda stumbled into a deal for a Magpul FDE cerakoted lower. Had an upper done too, and now I'm even onto a new bbl that will also be cerakoted FDE.

Small parts, rails, buffer tube and f/h are black, so it'll be a somewhat 'mottled' effect at a distance. It should blend well around here in the fall & winter as well.

FDE. Browns are found in every environment, short of Antarctica...

I'd probably go FDE, dirts everywhere like someone else said, but when I was looking at doing a recce build, I was wanting to get both colors in the Magpul XTM panels (if not 3 colors, depending on how many you need) and mixing them up. Then, I was going to go with an FDE stock, and possibly get word out to see if anyone would want to swap MIAD grip straps of their color (FDE or foliage) with the other color, and if so, I'd buy the other color and swap front/backstraps with them. May be overkill, but I like to tinker.
