+1 If my Colt were to need something, I'd take it over to Ken.

You are correct, I read your post a different way.

My original post got lost in the noise, but my response to you was the point I was trying to make about X fails more than Y.

    Armalite Bolt

I read that letter before, but thought it only applied to the AR10.

Is there any actual documentation or experience that indicates that this is actually being done in the AR15 series?

Point taken, im sure when there is a major failure at training like a broken bolt. That the question gets asked "is that a XYZ bolt?"

Combining and upper receiver with a lower receiver, both made by the same manufacturer is definately far from the definition of "Frankengun", which I doubt has ever been formalised.

What do you mean by "1 screw and two pins..."? I must be misunderstanding your meaning.

ETA- Nevermind, I just reread your post. I assume that you have not mastered disassembly yet. No problem. All it takes is literally to pull and push two pins to install the upper receiver.

    Hope this helps.
    +1

Yeah, I have not messed with the front pin (as I learned it is). Mostly I play with my Dad's collection every now and then when I drive over to his place. I grew up shooting them, but he cleaned them, and I was not the most attentive to detail. Now that I am getting one though I am trying to learn!
