A friend of mine bought a Bushmaster for his first AR. I was at the range with him when this happened. He had about 100 rounds through his rifle, and ALL of the bolt lugs sheared off. I was actually looking right at the ejection port when this happened. Big old ball of flame came out..haha. I believe he was shooting PMC at the time.

On topic....I have heard some people say that Eugene Stoner HAD to use a DI gas system because the government wouldn't let him use a piston....because the AK used a piston and was communist.

This is ALL about internet rumors. What does ANYONE ( 1 post count or 10,000) have to put me down. Ill accept it if factual, still does nothing to me cause I have a beautifully functioning rifle.

No ones feeling are hurt here... Are yours?
I broke 2 Bushmasters, one of them under 1,000 rounds in the first month I owned it sheared a lug. Bushmaster told me I must have exceeded the recommended firing schedule and they would not be replacing it. The one before that shook the folding sigh gas block loose after a few rounds and failed to cycle from then on until I fixed it myself.

I will never buy another Bushmaster. I believe the quality has dropped since then as well, as this was about 7 years ago.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe

Maybe I am missing something. Do you mean to say that 5.56 will indeed come out of your lower back if it enters your chest?

Not really, I wouldn't bank anything on where the exit wound will be. There are so many factors that can change where you will see an exit wound. For example, if by chest, he meant upper torso, it is entirely possible for the round to hit at a slight enough angle that it glances off the spine, does a 30 degree change of direction, and comes out six inches lower than it went in. Hence, lower back. Stranger things have happened. Like a round coming in above the pelvis, and coming out the same buttcheek.

It's not the LIKELY thing for the round to do, and if it was someone who was reading all his information from a manual and telling me that "if'n I shoot ya there, it's a gunna come out somewheres else", I might not buy it. But if your guy was in the thick of it in Vietnam, I wouldn't doubt that he saw something like that.

    Here's how it works:
That orange looking feature top-right, called search. Use it.
Read first. Anecdotal facts. Then if you really think you have a viable opinion, something to say based a little more on hard facts and experience you think anyone wants to hear, post.

For now, all you do is epitomize the point of this thread.

    Was asking for facts, Buster.
Which I got from some helpful members..

Not spewing regurgitation's on an entire brand.

Keep it in your pants, smokey.
The short cuts and pitfalls of Bushmaster are well documented. As was suggested the search button is your friend. My dept. issues some BM rifles and they have all, and I mean ALL, have shit the bed for one reason or another. All low round count.

If yours works, great. Drive on. But you are the exception rather than the rule. Those are facts.

Hambone, if your Bushamster lasts you for 30 years and never ****s up...good for you, man. That's friggin' awesome, dude.

There are a lot of people on this site that use their firearms for "serious social intercourse"...they tell you what brands they bet their LIVES on, and you are basically saying "**** you...mine is as good as yours."

This is not the venue for that shit.

And let me tell you something...nobody gives a shit that you bought a Bushmaster. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it. You can purchase whatever the heck you want. But, don't come on here and try to advise us that you have more smarts because you saved money.

    Hambone, take your own advise.

Search Bushmaster+bad = a search string designed to come up with nothing except justifying what amounts to an attitude of "absence of evidence is evidence of absence" while patting yourself on the back and muttering "Internet; YES!!"

Marines swear by a laundry-list of shit about weapons that's out-dated, when it isn't plain, dead wrong. Taking a cleaning-rod section to the muzzle crown of an M4 because the armory wants the carbon removed, for example. The carbon may come off, but the crown definitely gets all kinds of ganked up. I love my little gun club, but they're humans, and therefore as full of shit as anybody else.

To all: It's a parody thread, knuckleheads. Get to poking fun at stuff, or GTFO.
