Looks like, if one other "fact" could be gleaned from these numbers, is that there's quite convincing reason why rifles are considered "primary".

    It will too break....

...It'll break a jaw and numerous other bones depending on how and where applied.

Heard this from my brother in law yesterday.

Soldiers prefer the AK over the AR because of its reliablility and having to keep the AR clean for it to run.

The biggest one I hear is, "The AR/M16 isn't accurate".

BTW, hearing all of this fail by higher ranks in Mil/LE has me a bit concerned.

I've never heard that one before. That would definitely be a myth because their generally very accurate fighting rifles.

As I get higher in the ranks, I am finding that actually knowing what you are talking about isn't a prerequisite. Faking the funk and convincing people you know what you are talking about is. Weapons seem to be the number one thing that they assume they know everything about just by being in the military. It is getting better than when I first came in, but the myths are still alive and well.

It is the same way in the corporate world, school systems, local government, etc. It is simply the way things work. Many people would say "the way things work today" but I suspect it's always been like this.

Likely why the earth was flat or the universe rotated around it, for so many, many centuries.
There was even a period of time when blood sacrifices had to be made to get the sun to come out daily.
The smart people in charge said so and no-one questioned it.
