Thread piracy in progess. I have often wondered why administrators do not rely on their armorers who are supposed to be competent as to the best way to accomplish this.

All you need to do to make the weapon semi is to simply replace the selector lever with a semi-auto selector lever and magically it will not shoot auto. You can even remove the auto sear for piece of mind.

Were it me, I would not install an inferior piece of shit DPMS LPK in a Colt weapon or any other quality weapon.

That is blasphemy and you know it.

BTW- I have never in all of my years seen a detent chewed up like that. Wonder if it is stamped PRC?

As discussed earlier, the detent is the wear part that displays the symptoms, though itself may not be the real problem, the selector's detent holes and groove have a large part of the blame.

Doubtful considering the source. But I know what you mean. I guess any part can break no matter how good the company.

I am well aware of that. I personally wouldn't install that, that is why I mentioned simply putting in a selector lever.

I'm curious as to why you'd not use one.

I mean I understand that the selector lever route would certainly be the more ideal, but for the ability to retrovert back to FA selection using nothing more than a screwdriver and no concerns about carrying or storing selector levers to swap back and forth would likely have some desireability.

'Course with the selector you'd not have to have that lurking concern that someone would just bend the plate out of the way.

Actually if there's any age on the hammer springs, simply removing the auto sear is adiquate.
Yes, FA will still be selectable, but the timing will be effected along with the hammer chasing the carrier forward which makes for a pretty useless primer strike.
Downside is if someone accidentally flicks to FA instead of SA they're gonna be really dissapointed when they don't get to shoot back making doing it about as low on the list as one can get.

Been my suggestion several times too unless the agency is completely doing away with Autos, taking them off paper.
