you know, the entire purpose of that rail is to mount the light at 12 o'clock...

I tried it there and didn't like it. It obscures too much of the front sight. I thought the purpose of the rail was to be able to have a 12" rail and still be able to use the fixed fsb.
    From the Daniel Defense website:

The Omega X™ Rails feature a unique blend of Omega Rail™ technology along with the strength of our proprietary Bolt-Up Design. The Omega X™ Rails offer a smooth transition from the upper receiver offering the most useable rail space in conjunction with a standard front sight base. It boasts a continuous upper rail platform along with integrated, limited rotation, sling swivel attachment points on either side for ambidextrous use. This two piece free float rail system secures to a proprietary barrel nut with our AR15 Lite Rail Barrel Nut Wrench so initial gunsmithing is required for installation. Once the rail system is completely installed, it can easily be removed from the barrel nut to allow the end user to perform maintenence to the barrel and gas tube while still maintaining a true free float design.
    and,

The Omega X™ 12.0 FSP Rail System is for a Carbine length gas system, offering the benefit of a full length rail system while leaving the standard Front Sight Base in tact.
Hmmmm, no mention of it being made to mount a light ahead of the fsb at 12 o'clock.

It must be the clunky light because others to include Larry Vickers run that set up with no issues. If it didn't work, I can guarantee Larry wouldn't use it.

Yes it's the TLR-1S so it strobes as well. The strobe function can be deactivated. Its pretty bright for its size and was $100 shipped from Midway. The MUR-1S upper is a pretty nice piece if equipment. I'm not sure it has anything to do with accuracy but I can hit the 18" steel plate thats at 200 yards with boring regularity. That's off sand bags and with open sights and using cheap 55gr federal.

Yea its a little bulkier than the surefire x300. If you search the forum you will find plenty of people with the same complaint about the streamlight. It doesnt totally obscure the front sight but it covers up more than I like. Maybe I'll drop the $200 plus on a surefire someday.
