    Concealed Carry Issues

When I try to conceal my full size M&P at the position I typically holster it at for open carry (~3:30) it doesn't conceal for shit. I'm using an Atomic Dog OWB holster for it but I don't think going IWB is going to solve the problem, the grip of the gun simply sticks out way too far. I've tried rotating it along my belt to different positions but I can't conceal it right at 3:00 either and it is uncomfortable there. I have a little more luck forward of the point of the hip but that is uncomfortable as well.

It is seeming like I'm going to need to pick up a M&Pc for concealed carry but I'd rather keep the full size if possible. For that reason, I've been looking into appendix carry but I've read it isn't for people with much of a gut. Does that mean if you've got one don't even try it or just that depending on how much of a fat ass you are, you might be able to pull it off but you might not?

It doesn't seem to me like a different holster in the same belt position as I've got now is going to change anything since it is a grip length issue. Am I wrong in that thinking? I don't mind picking up a couple other holsters and trying them out if there is a chance it will make a difference but I don't think it will.

Oh hell, maybe I should just say **** it and go get a compact but it seems like I should be able to conceal the full size (I'm 6' 3" and 210lbs).

I have to wear mine back around the 5oclock position, basically in line with my right rear pocket. Anywhere else is either uncomfortable or sticks out WAY to much. I run Atomic Dog holsters IWB back in that position and the gun disappears and is comfortable in all conditions but long car trips(but I usually run an OWB 3 oclock holster for those anyway).

Try moving it around to 4 to 5 o clock which tucks the grip into the hollow of your back.

    What belt are you using?

Guns with longer grips tend to carry better with Pancake Style holsters which are designed to pull the gun in tight to the body. Do you have pics of your holster....pics while wearing it? It may be a design issue or your physical build....could be many things.

I carry my M&P9 with no printing using either a Leather Pancake holster or a Kydex Holster I made.

I carry my M&P around 4 o'clock in a CTAC IWB or PSS OWB. The grip does stick out pretty well so you do have to be really careful about bending over (at least from a skinny 5'9 guy perspective). There are occasions where I move it a little further back, but it makes it uncomfortable to sit in a hard chair.

I will admit to considering an additional 9c for daily carry and using the FS as my competition gun.

I carry my fs m&p about 8-730 (left hand) iwb summer comfort i too had this issue but when i moved the pistol back a little this fixed it . Now there is a foreward cant which i beliveve helps the butt is hidded by the hollow part of my back/side.

I just took a quick pic. I can't really get one of how it prints with concealment on because my camera sucks but if I stand up perfectly straight, I'm fine. The second I bend at all, I print BAD. If I take the gun back any further than this my draw time starts to increase which I'd rather avoid if possible.

Also, from the pic, think I could get away with AIWB carry?

Edit: Forgot to add that the belt is a Filson Double Belt.

can you adjust the cant on that holster?

it looks like more cant would help you out a lot.

FTR, I agree that cant helps A LOT. My CTAC is canted pretty aggressively.
