So I reduced my G23's front and rear backstrap and then stippled it. I have read that if you shave the rear down you need to fill in the cavity. What type of epoxy can I find at like a home depot that will fill the hole and than bond to the smooth surface of the plastic?
I've been trying to work up the nerve to do this to my Glock 23. I looked all around for a suitable epoxy and settled on Acraglass from Brownells. Get the 2 gun kit. It comes with just the right amount of epoxy, black coloring agent and floc so that you can mix it to whatever consistency you want. Kind of pricey, but so are most of the better marine type epoxies.
I wonder if you could melt a magazine to fill that void in.
I did this to add weight for a competition gun. Beware though, the Acraglas might not stick. The Acraglas I used did not stick, it was one of the versions Brownells sells. I mixed lead shot into it for weight.
When I decided to return to stock I was able to drill a hole in it and put a wood screw in. A good yank on the screw and it came out.
I only removed the texturing from the backstrap and a little material at the top under the beavertail for my reductions. I don't believe that enough material was removed to need filling. However, I do stick a Glockmeister plug into the opening.
If you remove the hump, you might need to fill.
