    What 2 AR's Should I Build?

I recently picked up two bargain lowers...and some other assorted lower parts. I have had three AR's in the past and my only complaints have been in regards to their weight...I no longer own any of them. I am willing to pay for quality but nothing absurd...probably no more than $600 for an upper/barrel assembly.

Right now I am thinking perhaps a bcm 14.5 w/pinned fh (lightweight) midlength for the first one and perhaps a bcm 11.5 lightweight pistol for the second (would probably sbr in the future).

Any suggestions? Thoughts? Criticism? One AR I need to have?

    Thanks!

If I did a pistol it wouldn't be anything longer than a 7.5". Might as well make it as short as possible if it's gonna be a pistol.

Are those reliable? Does that ruin the abilities of the cartridge?

SBRing in the future perhaps? sounds like a plan! but not for a 7.5" barrel; unless it were just for dumping some rounds at the range (which is very fun to do)

The idea for the pistol is great. You have lots of options and you can even go Mk18 style on it.

As for the pinned and welded 14er, I suppose that's good. I've personally gone away from that market to keep with the 16"

A great semi-lightweight barrel you may be interested in is made by Centurion Arms. It's sort of a cross between medium and light profile. Great accuracy reports, too. They come in all lengths. I suggest giving them a look-see.

If I were to be building two rifles I'd do a Mk18 and a Mk12 style. They just seem to fill good roles and have fun factors of their own.

Reliable but dirty. I would do a piston kit. There was a guy at the range I go to with a 7.5" AR pistol with an eotech hitting the 18" steel gong that is at 192 yards with no problems. Makes a nice flame too.

I have never owned a 10.5"...that will be my next

Oh, you don't want to build an AR, they are problematic and unreliable!

Mid length 16", and a 11.5" SBR. Which lowers did you end up ordering buddy?

They are surplus ammo made by aero precision.

Is there a benefit between the 16 over the 14.5? I realize I would have slightly more velocity and the ability to change flash hiders.
