Personally, I'm content with one 14.5" or 16" and then a 10.5" to 12.5". I've been pretty happy with my SR15's and the LMT mk18 upper I traded for recently. I own others but these are my main two right now. These are also the two I'd keep if dropping everything else.

Having said that, if someone is new to the AR and just feels the need to buy two right now, one being an SBR, I'd go 16" Middy and a 11.5" or 12.5". My 10.5" has worked well with all kinds of ammo but I can't say that about all 10.5" guns even from reputable manufacturers as little things can throw them off for some users.
Proven combat techniques may not be flashy and may require a bit more physical effort on the part of the shooter. Further, they may not win competition matches, but they will help ensure your survival in a shooting or gunfight on the street. ~ Paul Howe

The whole thing started as an SBR. I bought a stripped lower and had it engraved, form 1's etc etc.

I will for sure post it as soon as I get my stamp. I have no desire to build a pistol AR, It just doesnt apeal to me

An AR pistol can have magazines and all that crap...just no vfg. I just wondered if an SBR could lose the buttstock and be considered a pistol.

Well I'm looking at an Lmt 10.5 right now...trying to decide between that or a bcm 11.5 lightweight.

Silly question..if you take the butt stock off a sbr could it be considered a pistol? I am specifically asking because in my state a concealed carry permit holder could have a loaded pistol in their car but not an sbr.

I would build both an SPR and an SBR

One would be an 18" barrel 1:7 set up with a mid range optic.

The other would be SBR'd with a 10.5 barrel and a reflex optic.

These weapons would both be excellent MBR's with one leaning more toward longer ranges, and one CQC work.

As far as barrels and parts are concerned,
I've run Noveske, Citidel, and Black Whole, barrels w/o complaints.
For BUIS I run Matechs, Troy, Magpul, and Centrurian.
Optics I'm an Aimpoint fan, although there are good budget optics out there (Millet, Falcon Menace, Primary Arms) (I love ADM mounts)
LPK's I've had good outcomes with Daniel Defense, Bushmaster, and RRA.
Most of my furniture is Magpul, Troy, Badger, Tango donwn, and DD.

I wish I had not waited as long as I did to go the SBR route. I would suggest you SBR at least one of your lowers.

That's from 2004 the awb is no longer in effect. You can have an AR pistol with all of those features.
