    Scenario

I am concerned that my wife and I don't have a years worth of water and food, maybe one month if we diet.
What is going to happen if the feds shut everything down for whatever reason. I remember after 911, the skies were clear because no one knew if there were other people waiting to die in the air.
Will my bank account be there when I go to the ATM? will there even be power for an ATM or even wil there be an ATM? We have cash stashed for emergencies but no enough to pay our bills for a month. If my work is shut down how do I pay my bills? I might not even care about paying them, I doubt if I am the only one who feels that way.
Do I run out tomorrow and buy more food, water, ammo or gas for the cars? Is the bottom falling out of our society or does someone wants us to think that?
I have read a lot of "End of the World" stories over the last 55 years and I don't want my life to be like one of them.

Who wouldn't love to be dictator? Seriously? Who doesn't want to kill someone from time to time? Does that mean he'll seek it out? If you hate Obama so much why don't you do something about it?

You're assuming that people lack self restraint and don't care about the good of others. That's what makes us different than animals. Just because we'd like to have sex with a beautiful person we just met doesn't mean we'll rape them on the spot.

Are you asking, "who wouldn't want to impose force on other people"? Are you asking, who wouldn't want to take other individuals freedoms away? If so I can honestly say I do not, I JUST WANT TO BE FREE!

Do you mean other than voting against him in the upcoming election?

Compassion for others is not what separates Man from animals. And apparently you don't think so either, you open your post by asking, "who doesn't want to kill someone from time to time". What separates us is Man's mind, that is what separates "him" from savage beasts. Some of which is broken down in the quote box below.

Quote Originally Posted by Ayn Rand
Man’s essential characteristic is his rational faculty. Man’s mind is his basic means of survival—his only means of gaining knowledge . . . .

In order to sustain its life, every living species has to follow a certain course of action required by its nature. The action required to sustain human life is primarily intellectual: everything man needs has to be discovered by his mind and produced by his effort. Production is the application of reason to the problem of survival.

Reason integrates man’s perceptions by means of forming abstractions or conceptions, thus raising man’s knowledge from the perceptual level, which he shares with animals, to the conceptual level, which he alone can reach. The method which reason employs in this process is logic—and logic is the art of non-contradictory identification.

The senses, concepts, logic: these are the elements of man’s rational faculty—its start, its form, its method. In essence, “follow reason” means: base knowledge on observation; form concepts according to the actual (measurable) relationships among concretes; use concepts according to the rules of logic (ultimately, the Law of Identity). Since each of these elements is based on the facts of reality, the conclusions reached by a process of reason are objective.
Reason does not work automatically; thinking is not a mechanical process; the connections of logic are not made by instinct. The function of your stomach, lungs or heart are automatic; the function of your mind is not. In any hour and issue of your life, you are free to think or to evade that effort. But you are not free to escape from the fact that reason is your means of survival.

Because although the automated processes of your body, your senses and sheerly autonomic functions, will tell you what you need, they do not automatically tell you how to meet those needs. My stomach can tell me that I'm hungry. But not what is poisonous or healthy to eat. My nerve endings can tell me that something is causing me pain, but pain itself does not tell me what course of action to take to avoid it in the future. Reason is the faculty that identifies and integrates the material provided by man’s senses. It's a faculty that man has to exercise by choice.

When man unfocuses his mind, he may be said to be conscious in a subhuman sense of the word, since he experiences sensations and perceptions. But in the sense of the word applicable to man—in the sense of a consciousness which is aware of reality and able to deal with it, in the sense of having not merely immediate sensory perceptions but of forming and weighing concepts and premises, a consciousness able to direct the actions and provide for the survival of a human being—an unfocused mind is not conscious.

A process of thought is not automatic nor instinctive nor involuntary- nor infallible. Man has to initiate it, to sustain it and to bear responsibility for its results. He has to discover how to tell what is true or false and how to correct his own errors; he has to discover how to validate his concepts, his conclusions, his knowledge; he has to discover the rules of thought, the laws of logic, to direct his thinking. Nothing can force a man to think, and nature gives him no automatic guarantee of the efficacy of his mental effort, only the necessity of pursuing it.

That which man’s survival requires is set by his nature and is not open to his choice- I don't choose whether or not I need sustenance. I don't choose many of the unique situational and personal challenges that will arise in my life. What is open to choice is only whether we will seek to discover the answers or not. Man is free to choose harm over benefit if he wants, but not free to succeed with it in the sense of attempting to divorce actions from consequences. Man is free to choose not to be conscious, but not free to escape the penalty of unconsciousness: destruction. Man is the only living species that has the power to act as his own destroyer- to consciously choose between his own harm or benefit. He is free to evade reality, he is free to unfocus his mind and stumble blindly down any road he pleases, but not free to avoid the abyss he refuses to see.

Several times now he has alluded to this. I know of no other President to have done so. Some may think these comments benign. Many of us don't. This is an American President making these comments for god sake. This just isn't done, or never has been done I should say until this hip-hop President (I expect a gold tooth & sagggy drawers anyday now). We know this mans philosophies and background inside & out and where his beliefs and admiration of World Leaders lie. "Fundamentally change America" ...remember?

Speech to LaRaza June 25, 2011. At 15:18 into this video speech, and the Laraza crowd cheers him on to do it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqve7zzX4HQ

And Obama March 2011: “Gee, it would be easier to be President of China”..take your pick from the searches below until you find what is a credible source to you.

    http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...ident+of+China

The Internet and conservative Media were all abuzz with this. I don't mean to criticize at all, but this is why people don't know this stuff already, why they ridicule. Because they only listen to the Lame Stream Media. This is why they think we're off the wall and crazy. Because they are not as informed. With the uproar these comments caused, I can't fathom anyone in America would not know he made these comments. But yet I will go out on a limb and say that more know nothing of these comments than are aware of them. That's the sad part. Most of the country has their head in the sand.

All I'm saying, given the opportunity, he would grab a dictatorship in a NY minute! Many of us believe that. He has great admiration for Hugo Chavez...remember? And what Chavez did in Venezuela...remember? Or shall I provide video of that too? Now it will probably never happen. The military, thank GOD, would prevent it. And he knows it! I wouldn't doubt if they have so much as actually told him so. There's too many old guard General McCrystals still around. And if anyone doesn't think General McCrystals Rolling Stone interview incident and subsequent firing didn't have them all talking and put it on the table when you have a top General stating Obama is the biggest threat to America. But if he thought, or thinks otherwise, in the midst of a major world shaken crisis..........

I have to agree. Something is better than nothing. Just remember that everyone has to start somewhere. Good luck.
In no way do I make any money from anyone related to the firarms industry.

In the event the economy collapses...on a large, nation-wide scale, that cash will become kindling and TP. If you have the extra cash that you want to "invest", then invest it in food, water, security, medical. Those are the big four in my opinion. I'm assuming you don't live under a bridge, so you already have the shelter...and don't worry about house payments or rent if/when the S really does HTF.
