Will look at the battlecomps, thanks. I started a new thread looking for help with the barrel have had no luck with the search function.
I wish you luck, hide your dog!Have any pics of the brake and how it's on there? Most time's they're pinned with threads under there.Shouldn't be too hard to change.

VLTOR makes a fixed position EMOD stock. The name escapes me but it was made as an upgraded replacement for the M16. If it's going to stay pinned at wide open - why not look into the fixed position full-size stock?

I just do not like the stock that came with the carbine. It's fully extended and the buffer tube is 10", the actual stock is set to a total length of 10.5".
Thanks for the link to that thread, I am 90% sold on it.

    Thanks for your help Steve...

There is nothing on the factory stock that I can reuse besides possibly the spring and buffer. I have narrowed it down to a Vltor EMOD, Magpul UBR or CTR. Obviously I need to purchase a full kit that includes everything. The Vltor EMOD kit has all needed parts, UBR has everything but the spring and buffer which my factory parts may work and Grant is selling a full stock kit with the CTR.
I would really appreciate any info based on experience that members have had with these stocks and also any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance
Two thoughts come to mind after reading this:

First, why on earth would you mount a new collapsable stock and leave it unpinned for even a moment thus committing a felony? Don't mess around with this. Pick a position and pin it. True discomfort will be a cell and obscene legal bills because you couldn't make up your mind and got caught.

Second, you might be able to take off the current collapsable stock by either drilling out the pin or pulling it out with needlenose pliers. This will depend upon the method used by the person who "fixed" that stock in place. You could also likely dremmel it off. If any of these scenarios prove true, you should be able to use the receiver extension currently in place and simply replace the stock body with one of your choosing. I prefer the pin and epoxy method for fixing a collapsable stock in place.

I am going to pin it once I figure out which position works best. I removed the pin from the stock and and removed it but the receiver extension does not have the different holes for placement. So I purchased the Vltor Emod kit. How do you use the epoxy or were do you place it to fix the stock?

Is this the Stock your talking about ?? http://www.vltor.com/rifle-modstock.htm It comes in a A1 Length & a A2 Length ! I am thinking about this myself. I also live in a Ban State (NY),,although I use A1 Stocks on Both my ARs & really like them,,but when using my buddies (LEO) with ACS Stocks I really like the Cheek weld ! The EFX Stock from Brownell's is a option also,,but I would like something just a tad shorter !! I looked at and really liked the IMOD also. I like the A5,,but with my 14.5 Middy,,I think it needs more dicking around than I want to get them to run right & I think the IMOD will work just as well anyways !!! I'll keep my eyes peeled on this thread to see how ya make out !!
