OP, I am also a left handed rifle shooter, but I never seriously considered a STAG after shooting one because where are you going to get spare parts? If my carbine goes down, I can just get parts from my other rifles if I had to in a pinch. LH upper, not so much. I've always trained on right handed models, so I don't mind it. Besides, if I was going to make a change, I believe an ambi lower would be more useful.

There are not many parts on the stag that are not standard. When I had one I just kept a spare bolt in its pistol grip. Figured bolt carrier failures are pretty rare as long as the gas key is staked correctly(which I did to mine).

Past that I know stag says their rifles have an ambi extension on the barrel but I've seen a few claim their standard extensions work fine on them.

The bolt and BCG is enough for me to say pass. Also, I can buy a known quality upper for less money. YMMV

The point of my post was; "Does anyone else shoot Stag left handed ARs?".

The thread was not really intended to be about perceived quality of different mfgs AR-15s. That topic has been beat to death on this forum and on the "other AR15 forum".

    Iceberg,

I have a friend who has 2 Stag LH rifles. One is a target build with a massive bull barrel and the other is a 16" 300 Blackout that I put together for him. Barreling the damn thing was a PITA because it didnt fit in my upper reciever vice block.

They both shoot fine from the bench, which is where these two will spend 99% of their time. He shoots 5 shots at a time and lets it cool, that's as hard as they will ever run.

He hasn't been hit in the face by brass or anything, he just doesn't like it flying past his face. He's aware of the propriatory parts issue and will be purchasing a spare LH BCG.

He didn't change anything on the lower, and maintains the standard safety lever. He simply wanted it to eject on the other side. I look at him funny when he tells me this because he always has a brass catcher strapped on the gun when he shoots, always.

This week I finally gave in and bought a new left handed AR (Stag Model 4L) that was in stock at a local shop for $650. My new Stag Model 4L appears to be very well made, but it did not come w/ an ambi safety or mag release. Stag does sell them on their website, but it seems odd that a left handed model would not have a left handed mag release. How hard is it to install a ambi mag release? I am very happy w/ my decision to buy a Stag & the lifetime warranty relieves any of my quality concerns. Does anyone else shoot Stag left handed ARs?

First congrats on the new gun. I am also left handed and have always wondered about lefty ars. I have been shooting for about 10 years now. I have never owned a left handed gun of any type, 870s 1100s ar and numerous handguns hell even my bolt gun is right handed. This being said i have grown to love right handed guns. If the ejecting case flying across your face bothers you then go southpaw. If not i would stay with the right hand guns they are more common.
