    On a 14.5" LMT M4:

    On a Bravo Company 11.5":

And I've got one coming on a Noveske N4 low profile that shipped today. I'm hoping to have my Form 4 back any day now.

I haven't done any low light shooting with it yet.

Are you going with the can as well Jeff, or are you just liking the FH? I know I used to see a lot of Gemtech Bilock FHs on your guns and always wondered if you had the can too.

    rob_s,

My G5 started it's life as a M4-96D and was coverted to the G5 by Gem-Tech. My Surefire "k" can is sitting at my local dealer. Hopefully I should have my BATFE Form 4 back any day now. My check for the Form 4 was cashed on 02-19-08.

Pics of the G5 mounted on both Colts and LMTs are posted in the Custom Build Forum of this site.

    Gotcha.

I really struggled with whether or not to go with the Surefire when I bought my can. I ultimately chose the Ops 15th because I thought it was the best for my intended host (an 11.5" barrel). I'll be interested to hear your take on the Surefire.

Jeff (others) can you discuss the pros and cons of a SF FH over a MB? Can you discuss it in terms of both short and long barrels?

    TIA

It's pretty simple. Muzzle breaks are loud. You can feel the pressure wave hit you in the face. It's even worse for the poor bastard next to you. Muzzle breaks also provide minimal flash suppression. On a can they may help prolong the life of the blast baffle. Not worth it! Unless you shoot suppressed only.

I get ya on the blast and noise; and I have read that with some designs the MB acts as the first, or even a protective baffle.

That said, and specifically speaking about the SF MB - does it direct the gas and sound forward to the point where it is no worse to the shooter than a FH (in a non enclosed area)? Does the design of the SF suppressor greatly benifit from a MB?

    TIA
