Thanks. I'll have to try them out. I love coffee too. I actually worked at two different Starbucks locations here in NOVA before I joined the military. I hadn't really drank coffee before then, but they got me hooked. I actually used to use the french press quite a bit, both at work and at home. Now I'm so busy with my current job, and my 18 month old daughter, that I've been reduced to having to use my wife's Keurig machine in the morning. Some of the K-cup flavors are actually pretty good, I'm not gonna lie. But it's obviously not the same as the real deal. I bring Starbucks instants with me as well when I'm out and about, and those are pretty decent too. I like Dunkin Donuts coffee alot too. On average I drink two cups of coffee per day. If I'm working through the night I drink quite a bit more. I always take it black. I'm not really sure of any negative effects in the amount of coffee that I drink, but it definately helps me get through the day.

    Baby steps.

Perhaps get some decent local coffee ground up and use a decent drip coffee maker, although a personal sized French press will actual cost less and make better coffee BTW.

I have an Aero Press, kind of like an inverted french press, love it for making my morning cup of coffee.

I have had mine for about a year and a half now, the plastic in the chamber has become stained from the coffee but it still works great, after I used up the paper filters that came with it i bought a stainless steel filter and its been working great too, easy clean up.

I would like to see the aeropress made in glass or metal though, I do have some thoughts about leaching of plastic into the coffee, not that I can taste it or anything.

Ive been using a french press for about 10 years.

Id also recommend using filtered water. Depending on your source water (tap, well, whatever) it can really change the flavor (sometimes good sometimes bad). Our water tastes like it came straight from a pool. When I take a shower it just stinks to high heaven of chlorine. So I use RODI filtered water since I have to make water for my fish tanks anyways with it. Our water is so bad it will kill a fish in under 2 minutes if not treated. If all you drink is 1-2 cups a day you can even just get gallon bottles of distilled or drinking water. Distilled should be 100% water. Drinking water should have the chemicals removed but added minerals for taste.

Grinding whole bean just before brewing is good. Pre ground coffee will lose a lot of flavor.

Foldgers and other like brands are junk. It may be called coffee but has little resemblance to better brands.

Another good way to make it is to buy one of the drip maker wire mesh filters. Get the water in a pot hot enough to bubble and steam (not boil). Put the coffee directly in the pot. Wait a few minutes, put the wire mesh filter over a cup, and then pour the pot into the cup.

I also like hot tea occasionally especially when I make asian food.
