S&W M&P15 Sport and DD upper?

Hey guys im getting my first AR soon and im looking at the M&P 15 sport. Ive heard a few good and bad things but mostly good. What I plan on doing is getting this as a base and getting a Daniel Defense upper receiver and then upgrading the stock barrel and so on. My main question is this. Is the stock barrel and gas tube and and stuff compatible with aftermarket uppers? Im sorry if my info is not good this is my first one and im not 100% sure of all the parts.
    Thank you

Just shoot the sport and see if it performs to your expectations before changing the barrel.

Why? Shoot it before you change stuff out, it may very well work just fine for you.

Yes. The barrel and gas tube will fit a Daniel defense upper.

The gas block is pinned to the S&W barrel, repinning it on a new barrel is next to impossible without very expensive equipment and decades of skill. The gas tube is a $10.00 part and may not work depending on what length gas system is being used. If you do plan on getting another upper, get one complete and don't bother swapping parts between the two, that way you a backup ready to go with no tools needed.

I'm sorry, I misinterpreted what you were trying to do, if you want to replace just the upper reciever in order to have a foreward assist, yes the S&W barrel and gas tube will work fine, however in over 3,000 rounds I've never needed to use the Foreward Assist on my two rifles. Being a civilian and given my limited experience I am almost left to wonder how one would use the FA in a manner that would not make a malfunction even more difficult to clear.

thanks guys ..yeah i agree with you on not buying a ton of accessories before i have any time behind the sights

Oh another question..i was reading about chrome lined barrels and stuff, is the Daniel upper chrome lined? and is there any real advantage to this? i get that they should be smoother but im not sure how they are regularly

I don't understand...by the time you change out everything you intend to change, you could have just bought or built what you wanted from the beginning, and you won't have any extra parts laying around....buy a good mil-spec lower like a BCM, and add the complete upper you desire...save time and money IMO>
