Have you actullay fired it and if so, does it reliably cycle with that ammunition and buffer configuration?

    Q: What makes it milspec
A: To be honest I have no idea why I put "milspec" in the name, i didnt mean to/think about it. Upon reading it this morning I asked myself that exact same question. haha

Q:What do you like about the UTG stuff
A: Everything fits much tighter than my separately purchased stuff on my 5.56 AR15. The buffer tube was of a very nice quality and the castle nut for some reason feels very beefy to me. Its larger and thicker than the one on my 5.56. Also the stock fits on very well with very little play/wobble. All and all for the price it feels very sturdy and solid.

Q:Have you actullay fired it and if so, does it reliably cycle with that ammunition and buffer configuration?
A: Yes I have fired it, although I have only fired it once and it was only about 120 rounds to zero and do some quick playing with it. I had zero problems of any kind, however with such a low round count I cant say if it will perform 100% in the future. To this point its reliably fed the ammo with no problems. This weekend I will be firing about 400 more rounds through it and I can get back to you with the results.

Also I have not tried other buffers yet, but that is something I may try to do this weekend, any buffer in particular you were curious about?

    Update

So I went out and shot another 500 rounds through it on Saturday. It ran like a champ. The only problem I had with it was with the c-products magazine that came with the upper receiver. When I loaded the magazine to its maximum capacity every 10 or so rounds I would have 2 FTF in a row, then i'd shoot another 10 rounds and get the same results. However when I switched to the AR-Stoner 5.45 magazines I had no issues at all.

So after that happened 2 times in a row I just tossed the c-products mag to the side and used the AR-stoner mags from that point forward with no further issues. I used the cproducts mag for the first 40 rounds then from that point forward the rest of the 460 rounds were used with the AR stoner mags.

I was shooting 53 grain Russian military surplus ammo and was getting very similar results that I would with a 5.56 upper. The groups were tight even with the surplus ammo. Since it has a nickel boron BCG and trigger group I decided to run it dry to see how it would do. Everything ran nice and smooth like I was running a fully lubed BCG.

Overall I am very pleased with how this rifle turned out. On a side note, it appears that Surplus ammo and Spikes Tactical both use Cerro Forge for the uppers/lowers (as marked by the keyhole on both) I noticed immediately that the fit between the upper and lower was wonderful, there is no play between the two of them at all. As soon as the take down pins are in its like one solid mass. Its an awesome combo.

The c products mag that came with my spikes 5.45 upper hasn't ever worked right. I stopped by JSE Surplus and bought another c products magazine and it worked. Go figure.

Then I bought 4 AR Stoner magazines from Midway and they work. Thing is they were also made by c products for Midway and just given a different name.

So what are the physical differences between these two mags? Is this like a gen 2 c-products mag?

I thought they went under or somthing.

I don't see any visual difference. One works and the other doesn't.

ASC took over making the C products mags and I guess the mags made for midway.
