Just FYI clyde is not the only place that sells the 6720 anymore. I got mine from GT dist for $980, $1040 after tax. My only light rifle to compare is an SR15 and well it just doesnt, before the 6720 I thought my SR15 was light, now it feels like a brick compared to the 6720.

Do they have a lightweight model? I thought they were building precision rigs.

Daniel Defense gets the thumbs up from me for lightweight guns.

The LaRue PredatAR is the lightweight model, you're probably thinking of the OBR's.

LaRue lists the PredatAR 16" on their website at 6.5 lbs.

    I have done some figuring:
Colt M4 with 16" barrel weighs aprox. 5lb. 15oz. with handle attached. Handle by itself weighs aprox. 9oz. Rifle without handle weighs only aprox. 5lb. 6oz. It is amazing to me how it feels so much heavier then that when aiming. I guess that is because with standard contour barrel at front and hardly any stock at back there is so much more weight at front then back. So...............the lighter weight barrel is defiantly the answer to a lighter feeling M4 style rifle. Thanks for the suggestions to all the awesome rifles that I was unaware of. But, I am seeing that you do not just look at overall weight. For it to feel lighter when aiming it needs a lighter barrel. Anymore suggestions or disagreements with my thinking on this is greatly appreciated.

I think your thinking is right for the most part. What you are talking about is the balance of the rifle. As one of the previous posters stated, if you don't hang a lot of crap off the rifle you will be fine. Same goes for railed for end. I would add that BCM (when they are in stock) has a very nice pencil barrel mid length 16" upper. You may want to consider this also.
I bought a pencil barrel upper on a fluke and I am now sold on the light weight concept. Even my standard weight barrel seems heavy by comparison

It's old school, but I LOVE my Colt 6520 - and there a still quite afew of them around, and you can probaly get a good deal on one these days since most people want an optic. ont eh other hand, if you alos want an optic maybe this doesn't work for you. I agree, teh lightweight barrel is SO much easier to hold for extended periods of time.

I've got several BCM lightweights. They make a bunch of different configurations. They've been absolutely flawless.
