Got into the White Bass pretty heavy this weekend and could see this Hybrid in the mix. Of course, I didn't know it was a Hybrid until I landed him.

Lake record for White Bass is 21 inches and Hybrid record is 27. I knew it had 21 beat by just looking at it in the water.

I anxiously popped a Mini-Torpedo and the Whites kept beating him to it. Finally got the Torpedo thrown near him and he gobbled it up as soon as it hit the water.

First thing I did was look at the tooth patch. Once I knew it was a Hybrid I took some quick measurements and turned him back. He'll be a record breaker in a couple more years.

    Awesome looking catch!

Sounds like you had a good bit of fishing happening.

Getting me all excited, might go for opener around here this year.

Thanks! I usually catch the spawn at least once every year. My freezer is stocked this year.

The weather here has got the spawn all jacked up. They were running about 3 weeks ago then we got some rain which dropped the water temperature and they quit.

Water temperature finally came back up and then we had ice cubes falling from the sky last night. I imagine they have probably quit again.

Caught this guy the same day as the Hybrid on the same Mini-Torpedo. Picture makes him look huge but he was only 17 inches. He exploded out of about a foot of water.

I usually run a small flat bottom up the creek but the water level is down which creates having to drag a boat in several spots. Don't care about tearing up a boat or propeller but it adds several hours to the adventure.

This day I just did a short vertical rappel (read "fall down a short face while attached to a rope") to a couple sweet spots and it paid off.

I quit catching fish because I literally got bored catching them. Short cell phone video showing how tough I had it...

I couldn't help but bust out a laugh after reading that.

That's awesome to see though man, and thanks for the video. Always adds an extra touch to getting a good visual of what's going on.

As always, thanks for sharing even more. Hopefully I can get some decent pictures up this year in regards to fishing and hunting.

Going to take this thread on drift just for a bit.

Was heading down the creek today when I noticed a raccoon swimming across about 50 yards upstream. I slowed down to check it out and saw she had burned off without her baby. Baby was only about a quarter the way across the water that had a decent current.

I reached over to snag the little guy and he grabbed a hold of me as soon as I got close. I put him on my lap and looked for others. He instantly cuddled up in my shirt. Stole a picture after prying him off.

Sat him where mom got out and then went to other side to see if she would come back. He didn't call for at least 45 minutes. I guess he finally got hungry, or lonely, and finally started calling some.

About an hour after that, mom showed up.

I grew up in a taxidermy shop. I'm a hunter, a fisherman and an avid outdoorsman. This was by far my neatest outdoors experience ever. Dropping a critter off at an orphanage will never seem like an option again.

Upstream from Old Alton, couple of bends before the railroad tressel. Current was just starting to pick up where I found the raccoon.

Water was up several feet but I wasn't able to make it up past the first ripple after the tracks today. I couldn't find the channel (which moves everytime it floods) and the water was moving 4-5mph. No point in dragging through as the current usually almost doubles between there and Hickory Creek. Been having sporadic engine problems that I haven't been able to narrow down and didn't want to risk a sudden shutdown in 9-10 mph water.

Pulled in a couple decent Channel Cats that hit on Bluegill.

Finally got my first recovered squirrel with a bow. First kill with the new bow I bough this summer. I've killed one before (definately vital shot), but the rat disappeared.

This one was 20yards, hoyt carbon defiant 34, gold tip hunter 400 and g5 sgh.

Hope to have a deer in the next week or 2.
