    Streamlight or Insight? which one is a better light?

    Hey guys, I am currently in the market of buying a tactical light for my Sig Sauer P226R 9mm Enhanced Elite. I have been checking out the Streamlight TLR-1, Insight M3 (standard halogen bulb or LED) and Insight WX150 Procyon. these are the lights that I have been trying to choose from. mainly because I really don't want to spend $200+ on Tac light. which one of these should I get? I have no experience with any of these lights. although I have a Insight M2 UTL for my USP45. right now I am currently leaning towards the Insight WX150 Procyon because it is the brightest compare to TLR-1 and M3. I also like the way it looks on Sig P226. but it is the most expensive out of these 3 tac lights.

    * Insight WX150 Procyon 150 lumens. I can get it for around $185 and I like the way it looks on a Sig P226

    * Insight M3 $99 for standard Halogen bulb 90 lumens. and around $135 for LED version which is 125 lumens.

    * Streamlight TLR-1 135 lumens C4 LED for around $100.

    So between these 3 weapon lights, which one can you guys suggest I should get?

    Thanks in advance..

    The Streamlight is a great pistol light for the money and represents the best value IMO, I have one and it has been great. I would skip the M3, the incan bulb is old technology, stick with LEDs for more output, runtime, and durability.

    I would go for the TLR-1 if you are budget mided, it is a popular light and Streamlight's customer support is pretty good.

    Have you considered the SureFire X300? They are pricey but can be found under 200 if you look around.

    I've got both: the Procyon (1st generation WX150, so to speak) on my G19 and a TLR-1s on my M&P 9. Both perform equally well, IMHO. The Procyon is indeed brighter, but the TLR's output feels less "harsh" to me, if you catch my drift. I am thinking of consolidating and putting a TLR-1 on my Glock as well. The Procyon/WX150 has the same form factor as the M3, by the way, so finding a compatible holster shouldn't be too difficult although I have the impression that there's more choice for the TLR...

    If the best deal you can find on the WX150 is $185, I'd get the TLR1. At that price difference, I think the TLR1 is the better buy. However, I got my WX150 for $133- and at that price point, I'd take it over a $100 TLR1 every single time personally.

    It's definitely a great light at a FANTASTIC price. My preference of the Insight is the dual rocker switches that allow up to always be constant and down always momentary (it's the opposite from right to left on the TLR series), the light is slightly brighter if I recall, and...well, that's pretty much it. Both are great and a $100 TLR1 trumps a $185 WX150 all day long in my opinion.

    Thumbs up

    Another vote for the Streamlight. The new TLR-1S (strobe) is 160 lumens, around $100 and the strobe can be disabled if desired.

    The WX150's mounting options is its weak point, whereas the TLR-1 once mounted isn't going anywhere. WX150 gets two mount bars, for a Glock, and for 1913 rails. If the rail isn't made to perfection you're screw. Even mounted on the Glock you get some wobble.

    Other than that the WX150 wins in every other category.

    Interesting- My WX150 doesn't wobble on my FNX9, nor on my DD Omega rail. I used the 1913 Pic bar for both. I can't imagine my WX150 coming off without either breaking, or the rail itself breaking.
