I saw this a few moments ago, I'm perplexed as to what handguard that is (I must be missing something) and what the clamp-on rail system is. I really dig it, looks very light-weight.
Anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

Looks like it would get super hot without any ventilation. I have been wrong before![]()
Looks like a DPMS free-float tube with a Hogue picatinny rail cuff.
There are better options.
That is the WECSOG rail from the Fail Build Corp.

Hey bud check this out , i remember reading about it in a magazine a while back. Looks like it may be similar but its pretty steep . http://www.store.christensenarms.com...ard_p_119.html
Good lord! You can get a DD RIS II for that much! Ridiculous.
Why would anybody want the silly handguard that's in this thread when there are far better options out there? Examples:
- Apex/BHI Handguard
- JP/VTAC Modular Handguards
- Troy Alpha Battlerail
- Troy TRX Extreme Battlerail / VTAC Extreme Battlerail
- Samson Evolution
It sort of looks home made. Like a 2" piece of pvc that's been threaded at the back end to mate to the upper. The device that had the rail adapters looks a sort of like a mega lug that bites down into the pvc. It even has what looks like a hinge in between the two rail pieces. And considering those rail adapters are supposed to be supported better than that, I can't imagine that being real effective at holding things squarely...
They're not even centered on the "device." I'm sure its because they should have 2 bolts in them to hold them securely but that only has one. Wait. Looking harder, it doesnt have any bolt holes. So its welded on or something else. More locktite maybe. Looks like that bipod would wobble like mad with that setup.
Man, the more I look at that, the more like shit it looks. The rail thing that is, I'm not really looking at the handguard.
The handguard looks like this

Only not as professional. Look at it...it doesnt have any bolt holes. The only way that it seems that would work is it were threaded and is just glued on there with lock tight. Unless somehow it went into a standard delta ring...but thats not the case either because the delta ring is slightly taller than the upper receivers rail.
Well, my vote is for what IG said. Looks like someone made that shit at home.

You're really overthinking this thing. Like I said before... the rail gadget is a Hogue rail cuff designed for free-float tubes. No doubt it's a silly device.
The tube is probably held in place like other older style free-float tubes. IE, it is torqued onto a device that replaces the barrel nut and aligns with the gas tube. Pretty simply, really.
