Nice wood! They are definitely great shooters. The surplus ammo is match grade too! Be sure to pick up plenty of the paper clips as they make for faster reloads.

Is the previous owner's name under the buttplate?

    That's a gorgeous K31. I have a '42 and a '50, and need to get them to the range!

Its been refurbed, Im almost positive the stock is a Boyds stock since there are not gouges near the butt. This thing is so pretty and the bluing so perfect, I dont want to touch the screws with a screwdriver to find out.

Would be even sweeter if its original wood, but doesnt appear aged at all. All of the wood looks like it was cut and finished last week.

    OP,
    What year is your K31?

I'm verrrrrry tempted to buy a 1948 K31 with a Schuetzenfest sticker from 1983 on the stock. Must resist....urge.....to....pull out... Mastercard...

HERE is a decent resource for Swiss weapons. It's not been updated since the spring of 2005, though.

On another note, I cleaned my '42 today. Sprayed Wipe Out foam in the bore, and let it sit and drain. The stuff coming out of the bore was blue, and a subsequent scrubbing resulted in a mirror bright bore, treated with Frog Lube. The machine work and quality of this rifle is amazing, considering I bought it for a pittance in 2002-2003.

I have no idea why I've been "bitten" by the Swiss bug lately.
