Don't think that I'm defending it, I loath "urban" culture with a passion, no matter who's adopted it. But this has been a 20+ year trend in most places.

To clarify, these aren't otherwise "normal" kids who think Yo! Mtv Raps is cool. These are kids who are trying to "out ghetto" the ghetto.

What's really sad is seeing some kid in Montana cruisin' around town with his cap on backwards blasting that bullshit. These are kids who, by and large, have never met a black person. Totally clueless and would get chewed up in half a heartbeat if the ever actually found themselves in an urban environment "for realsies."

Funny thing is, I have yet to see a bunch of black kids riding around Compton or wherever in a F-250 wearing Stetsons cranking up the Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. Where's the love?

I am originally from MT(born in Glasgow raised in Great Falls) but now live in TN and the never seen a black person isnt all that far off lol. There were black kids in school but they were almost all children of lifetime military families. It really gives a person perspective outside all the racial shit that seems to go on in the south. All the black kids I grew up with were well put together people from good homes which, due to the way the military supports its people, were financially stable. Due to simple mathmatics they dated white people and nobody even batted an eye. The black/white dynamic just doesnt exist in MT.

I work with quite a few different black guys and the ones that I work with everyday constantly give me crap(in fun, and it goes both ways) about my general lack of southern black culture. I am also somewhat odd to them before they get to know me. I am white but I am nothing like what they associate "white" with. Aside from having no PC issues what so ever in calling someone on "ignorant nonsense"(white or black and dont think for a secont that "ghetto" is really any different than the rednecks) it is also apparent that I dont have the general 2-face personality of most southern whites. I am not friendly to other races face only to rip on them when they are not around, I shoot straight all the time wheter it is positive or negative. I honestly have more issues with the whites in the south who just assume because I am white that when there are no blacks around that I want to hear there racist BS. That has caused me more trouble than anything.

I have found it exceedingly difficult to find real new rock&roll these days. And heavy metal seems to have devolved into this buzzy growly junk. So I've found myself branching out to other genres.

I said nothing about "black music." I'm speaking of a very specific type of culture, which includes music, dress, mannerisms, slang, and social attitudes. It has crossed all ethnic,racial and economic boundaries.

I'm white. I have an extensive collection of pre-1960s blues music almost exclusively created by black artists. I have not adopted the dress, mannerisms, slang and social attitudes of the culture that spawned this type of music.

BINGO! It is one of the elements that has destroyed the Black community: angry at the world, mysogony (which is bad enough but these bastards have NO respect towards their OWN women) and the threat of constant violence and rejection of mainstream American (I could say Christian) values.
