Right now it looks like in uniform, on duty and in public.

Per the on-air news report I saw, it was in a remote area on state property. Not in public.

Unless he was doing something illegal or overly lewd, I'd just advise the
officer not to get laid while working and send him on his way.

In my opinion, getting laid is equal with getting lunch, a drink of water, and taking a leak/dump.

Obviously, as a cop, you need to be on mindful of public perception, but I'm not seeing anything worth getting canned over.

But the big issue is how would the average officer treat Joe Citizen if he was found ****ing in public? I doubt it would be exactly like being found eating lunch.

He wasn't found "In Public"..see above.

I haven't seen any confirmation yet of exactly where he was, only debate about what constitutes in public.

Also "in the car" and "on the car" are probably two different things to get caught doing. One is in a private conveyance which affords the occupants a little more discretion.

And just so we are clear, I'm not your typical cop hater looking to nail another badge to the cross. I am probably more upset by how this actually harms the LE community than anything else. Really bad judgment, if you are wearing a badge and uniform you need to act better and more responsibly than your average person.

At the end of the day I typically give LE the benefit of the doubt, but I want them to deserve it.

That would cause definite job security issues up here.

Maybe so, but perhaps not everywhere. When I lived in Houston Texas, however, LEO's would frequently take 2nd jobs and work them in uniform.

I have no problem with cops who work an extra job on the side, but doing it in uniform always struck me as a big time conflict of interest. Oh well, Texas was weird like that.

Well he does get a half hour for lunch and two 15 minute breaks so this could easily have fit into break time!
