What is your ideal SBR/Suppressed setup?

I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out. I am sick of buying and selling repeatedly finding whats "just right", and I want to finally get it right the first time.

If you had to use a 10.5/11.5" barrel with an AAC M42000 what would be your ideal setup?

I like the Noveske Switchblock (In fact, I almost just bought their 10.5" barrel with the SB, but I am making this thread first) but I can't justify the cost of the switchblock and the lack of modularity with rail systems because I am going to be shooting 100% suppressed. I'd like to get a 10.5" barrel with a small gas port and go from there, but no one offers anything like that.

Down to the bare bones, what would you want in the above setup? Gas port size, rail system, AAC mounting device, buffer, spring, etc. I just want it to run right from the start, with little gas blowback and pressure from mounting the can.
Why do the loudest do the least?

Couple options. Buy a 16" carbine barrel and have it cut down.

Noveske makes a GB that down sizes the amount of gas coming into the receiver.

    Euro,

I've been in the same position as you and have pretty much decided on the "Light Shorty, SB".

If I was going to do a 100% dedicated suppressed upper with a smaller gas port, I would do a MK18 build with a AAC Ranger 2, but then again you would need to know the specs of the GP size as well as the tools to do it all yourself since I haven't heard of a company that will do custom GP sizing.

However, since I have decided that my "SHTF" gun will be a suppressed 10.5", I think the Light Shorty, SB is actually the best option since you can go back to a standard GP size should your suppressor become damaged and you have to remove it.

Just 2 cents from a guy who has done WAY too much thinking on the matter

Are you talking about their SB or do they actually have a gas block that is "suppressed only"? I was under the impression that they did, but long story short, I was told that they just pin the SB into the "suppressed" setting...basically giving you an inoperable SB set onto the suppressed setting...

Would the gas port on say a DD 16" carbine be smaller than on their 10.3" barrel? (I hope so, but I have no idea)

Has anyone ever cut an 11.5/10.5" barrel off a midlength gas system? With a suppressor would there be enough gas to cycle it?

    Euro,

Since I am running an 11.5" with an AAC M4-2000 let me chime in. Is there something that is preventing you from using a BCM 11.5" upper? Mine has run 100% since I built it. At around 5K rounds I swapped the buffer system out for the Vltor A5 and Centurion Arms rail.

What size gas port are you looking for and why?

They actually make just a low profile GB with a smaller hole in it to reduced gas.

A 16" barrels has a smaller GP size than a 10.3. It is ALMOST the ideal GP size for suppressed use.

Most than likely, not a good idea.

I wanted to keep this as compact as possible. I am not opposed to going with an 11.5". In fact, a BCM 11.5" is what I was considering along with the Noveske. I know I will get at least 100 yards more of fragmentation range with the extra inch.

What I am looking for is as short and light a weapon as possible in a soft shooting setup that doesn't make my eyes water every shot. I was seriously looking at the BCM 11.5" with the RIS II or getting a Centurion rail for the standard upper but I was apprehensive about recoil and blowback which led me to the Switchblock.

Two months from now I don't want to be throwing my upper on the EE and buying something else...I have bought seven uppers from BCM and currently own just two. Not because they didn't work, but because I rushed into something without researching it first.

You know that if you go with a barrier blind round (like Speer 24448) you do not have to worry about fragmentation distances anymore.
