Read it, multiple times...its where I was first introduced to the concept of a "dedicated suppressed" carbine. Posted in it a couple times to

The best answer I got as to why it was needed was because it was STILL overgassed and helped the function even more by bleeding off the excess gas. I guess my question can be boiled down to why, if you can drill your own GP, wasn't the gas port left to a smaller diameter to run with the standard carrier? Or did I miss something in the 2-3 times that I read that whole thread? Is there something ELSE that the Enhanced Carrier does that I'm missing?

You are welcome Sir and look forward to talking with you in person at the class. Will have my AR with me and you are welcome to take it for a spin in the shoot house.

Yes the cam pin slot is re-timed for longer dwell.

If a 14.5" barrel with 0.062" gp was cut to 11.5" and found to function/lock back using a standard carrier and H2 buffer...would there still be any benefit to trying the enhanced LMT carrier?

Even though the rifle is functioning with the standard carrier...would the enhanced carrier run cleaner or allow the use of lower-powered ammo?
I personally have had some negative experiences with AR's, small GP's and no suppressor. I have had fantastic results with with the same setup, but with the enhanced carrier.

Keep in mind that I like the enhanced carrier for TWO reasons. One, it increases reliability, but it also bleeds off extra gas (which in turn means less recoil, carbon, etc).

So I would first try your setup with a STD carrier and if it runs well suppressed and non-suppressed, then drive on.

Is it that you have optimized the system for use WITH the LMT Enhanced Carrier?

If you could drill your own gas port, couldn't you get the same effect with a smaller GP and a standard carrier (because you don't have the excess gas that needs to be bled off)?

What benefit does the LMT enhanced carrier give you that the standard carrier does not, that would make you want to use it instead of optimizing the gas port for a standard carrier?
You are always going to have more gas than you need (which is a good thing). As your AR becomes dirty, it needs more power to cycle. So if you have an AR that just barely functions then at some point, it won't.

The enhanced carrier increases dwell time which makes extraction easier and then blows out the extra gas.

Awesome...thanks for the response Grant! My main goal is to be able to run lower power .223 as well as the 5.56 and I wasn't sure if the enhanced carrier would help with that. From what you say, it kinda sounds like it would help.

I think I may have to just bite the bullet and do experimenting with both carriers to see what works best...but no worries because it's always fun experimenting with new stuff!

Like Gunz said, my 11.5 and 12.5 BCM's run great with M4-2000's. But the softest shooting SBR on the planet is my 11.5 Noveske with BCM and I added the Vltor A5. Gunz pushed me try the A5 , well that particular set up is smooth as silk. Its just like nothing Ive ever shot!
