Am I crazy for thinking that there's a demand for dedicated suppressed barrels?

I'm thinking 12.5" w/ carbine gas, thread on suppressor, and a smallish gas port that won't run without the can.

Kinda what like ACDO is/was doing with that one OPS Inc can (M4S?).

There is I think. There are many variables in the matter though in order to make the gun run well (no matter if the can is on or not, but still drastically reduce the amount of gas). Because of this, we do not do them any more.

Nothing I can say is going to sway you because everyone has their own threshold. However, I can say that my SBR is pretty damn soft and when I use the FrogLube I am not choking out on toxic fumes.

Pappabear is pretty happy with his 11.5" and 12.5" AAC set ups as well.

I am not really worried about some 100 yard "extra fragmentation" because 99.9% of the time you probably couldn't justify it in a self defense scenario.

If you are hunting with it, then that's a different story.

One thing about firearms in general is sometimes you have to play with different set ups until you find what fits you best.

What I am looking for is as short and light a weapon as possible in a soft shooting setup that doesn't make my eyes water every shot. I was seriously looking at the BCM 11.5" with the RIS II or getting a Centurion rail for the standard upper but I was apprehensive about recoil and blowback which led me to the Switchblock.

Two months from now I don't want to be throwing my upper on the EE and buying something else...I have bought seven uppers from BCM and currently own just two. Not because they didn't work, but because I rushed into something without researching it first.

I have zero experience firing a suppressed SBR, so any information is going to help sway me. I am not the type to take advice from experienced, knowledgable shooters and end up buying the Rock River anyway

Prior to the A5 what buffer did you use? Did you have to do anything else to the weapon for function?

I wanted to use this sometimes for hogs, but I will usually bring my 14.5". I'm not looking for range for this, it will be treated and employed mainly as if it were a sub machine gun. (which is why I wanted to save the 1")

Are you using the brake? Blackout? Brakeout?

Prior to the A5 I used a standard carbine tube, with an H3 buffer and blue Springco spring. It ran 100%. I used the Springco based on advice from Robb Jensen and Grant.

I have a standard AAC 18T flash hider mount. I almost never shoot it unsuppressed so I never pay attention to the actual flash hider. If it wasn't suppressed it would be wearing a Battle Comp.

I have had great success running an LMT 10.5 with a Knights RAS-II and an early SWR Specwar-2 can that mounts on a bilock. This is an off the shelf LMT 10.5 with a standard gasblock. Lowers have been factory Colt M16 fullauto or Colt 6933 SBR, both with Colt standard carbine receiver extensions, standard USGI recoil springs, and H2 buffers. This setup has been flawless. I have approximately 5000 rounds through this upper and it continues to reliably eat 5.56mm fodder.

I have since changed the upper by cutting down and Dremel profiling the gas block and installed a DD Mk18 RIS-2 rail. Once I pick up another AAC blackout mount I will be using this with my M4-2000.

This 10.5 inch setup has run well for me; suppressed and unsuppressed with total reliability in semiauto and fullauto.

I am personally a big fan of the 10.5 inch upper.

Purpose built to be used with a can, not built with the can as an after thought.

Found a Colt barrel cut to 10.5" barrel with the factory .063" gas port.

    Good?

Interesting would DD 16'' barrels also fall into this category.

    Thanks in advance

    Good?
If the cut and thread was done well.
