This. Like anybody else, heck yeah, I wish prices for everything were lower. But, things are what they are. Scrutinize your needs/wants, shop smart, and try to keep moving forward.

Uh, no. Prices are VERY low with deals all around. For instance, want a Colt 6920 for under $1k?? How bout mags? Buy in bulk and you can usually get most of them for $1-$2 over distr. price.

I will agree that some things are high (specifically Euro built optics). The main issue there is the weak US dollar.

If things are TRULY over priced then people will stop paying for them and the company will lower prices or go out of business. So far, that is not happening so the consumer must feel that they are getting their money's worth.

If shooting doesn't provide you with the necessary good-feeling-ness required to make one willing to pay what's necessary to continue to shoot, then one should just ditch their gear to somebody that'll appreciate it for what it is and find another hobby.

If you don't want to shoot any more because of cost considerations...then don't. Plenty of popsickle sticks and Elmer's glue out there, for cheap. The center of gravity of the original post amounts to "I think stuff costs too much because I don't want to pay that much for it." And THAT'S IT.

    Simply stunning.

There's a club for that, with like-minded people. It's called Everybody. We meet at the bar.

Ya, he is going to go nuclear! Especially since it is "Monday" morning and he has been binge drinking all weekend (fighting a nasty hangover).

I thought I was very calm.

    But then, I would, wouldn't I...?
